Need recommendations for a highly competent, reputable company for solar installation
I have recently had dealings with a company named GW Store (Jason Sole), based in Noordhoek, and cannot recommend them enough ! I had an upgrade to my exisitng Sunsynk 5Kw installation. Additional panels were added. I had also asked about an additional battery, but they talked me out of it (more of a nice-to-have than an essential). They also "tidied up" issues left by the original installer. Jason Sole - 071 148 7206

Sunsynk 5kW - Settings Not Sticking - Assistance/Advice Please
I think I have found the issue/solution. Have read on other threads about Octopus Agile messing with the first 2 timeslots, which appears to be my issue. Accessed my "revenue" screen and found that currency was 'R', Octopus Agile was checked, Region was set as 'C-London', and flexible rate was checked. Amended these settings to currency = 'R', Octopus Flux checked and set Basic/Flat Rate to 1 (1R/Kw ?) Saved this then adjusted my timer settings, and 24 hrs later, all settings still in place just as I had entered them Dongle is connected and all seems to be working 100% Thanks for all the suggestions - fingers crossed this is the solution @Nexuss @YellowTapemeasure @PowerUser @system32 @DST @Mark E @JanLuus

Sunsynk use timer will not stay unticked
@PowerUser Still operating without a dongle. So the dongle packaged with the inverter did not work. A new sealed dongle also did not work. Waiting on a second hand/used dongle to test. Apologies about the late follow-ups, am just basically at the mercy of the suppliers/installers, but will keep the thread updated as and when things change

Not yet I'm afraid @Mark E Awaiting to test with a second hand dongle (still to be provided) to see if this will fix the issue

Further follow up: New dongle finally arrived and fitted last week (10 June) Within an hour the original issue came up (first 2 rows of settings at 20%, gen charge ticked, and arbitrary overlapping time slots) Dongle was removed, settings reset, and everything back to normal. Inverter has been running fine without the dongle. Supplier has suggested that perhaps there was a bad batch on dongles, so we're awaiting another replacement. @JanLuus : Apologies for late reply. Perhaps try running your system without the dongle for an hour or so ?

RV Solar Solutions (Cape Town area) - feedback
Would just like to add my 2c to this thread. My recent interaction with @RVSolar was great. They were the only company, out of around 12 that I contacted, to assist with issues on my new-ish installation (not installed by RV Solar). So a big bonus that they were prepared to take on the risk. Chatted to Ricardo on the Thursday and by Friday lunchtime Heinrich was at my house. Very friendly, very professional, and clearly knew his way around the system. An issue that we had had for over 3 months was fixed and working within an hour. I'm very happy to recommend them (actually did this twice over the weekend)

@PowerUserIt's the dongle!! You called it. We obviously didn't test for long enough. As our installer was AWOL, we manged to get another company to take a look. Heinrich Visagie from @RVSolar came to take a look (thanks @Powerforum Store for the recommendation) and mentioned he had a similar issue on another installation. Unplugged the dongle, waited 20 mins, set new settings and all good. 24 hrs later, settings still in place (I even tested by changing one of the percentages). Everything still is as set. 3 months of stress, pain and headaches sorted in 45mins So no stats or remote access for now. Will need to organize a new dongle in due course. Thanks everyone for all the advice and suggestions. Really appreciated your input @Our Power SA fyi

Follow up : @PowerUser We removed the dongle and tested. Issue remained (even uninstalled the app in case rogue settings were causing the issue) Managed to swap out the inverter with another, and I still have the same problem. First 2 SOC settings revert to 20%, all time slots change, and gen charge is ticked. So I guess it isn't the inverter. Going back through old messages with the installer and I noticed that this issue first came up after the geyser was moved to non-essential, and the CT coil was fitted. Am now completely confused and at a loss, installer likewise

Not worried about the stats for now, more concerned about the warranty Will need to chat with the installer first and get confirmation, just to be on the safe side

Afraid we have yet to try your suggestion @PowerUser. The logger does see my equipment, along with usage and graphs etc. Is it a simple case of just unscrew and unplug, or will I need to shut-down inverter completely to remove ?

Sunsynk 5kW - Settings Not Sticking - Assistance/Advice Please
Just a follow up. As David Drake of Sunsynk suggested that the battery is possibly at issue, I logged a ticket with @HubbleLithium, along with the issue, unit information and some photos of the inverter battery settings. Not 5 minutes had passed when I received a phone call from Hubble, and spoke to a guy named Jason. We went through the battery settings and updated where necessary, all the while explaining to me the hows and whys. Not 3 minutes later he called again, having spotted another change that I had to make. Apparently battery looks to be in tip-top condition, so NOT related to BMS as D Drake implied. Just wanted to thank @HubbleLithium for the fast and professional service. Really very impressed. Unfortunately, I still have the same inverter issue and trying to get any communication going with either Sunsynk or @SEGEN SOLAR CT is like getting blood from a stone. My messages are being read, but not one reply. Apparently Segen will deal only with my installation technician, but he's getting nothing from them either.

Thank you very much for the help @system32, really appreciate it Amended the battery settings as suggested above, and these appear to have stuck in place - again, thank you The system settings are another story altogether. Also tried your suggestions, but 5 minutes later odd times appear, and the first 2 slots are reset at 20% with both grid and gen ticked (I don't own a generator), and I have no idea where these settings come from. Spoke to David Drake at Sunsynk, and he seems to be of the opinion that the issue lay with the Hubble BMS. This kind of makes some sense, but I'm new to this and still trying to get my head around everything.

Sunsynk 5kW - Settings Not Sticking - Assistance/Advice Please
Good Day, Around the beginning of March we had a Sunsynk 5kW Hybrid inverter installed with a 5K Hubble battery. For some reason, whatever system SOC settings I enter, after about 20 minutes (sometimes less/sometimes more), the first 2 time slots revert to 20% and "gen" is ticked, along with a bunch of arbitrary time slots that make no sense. I am pressing "OK", and "Lock Out All Changes" is unticked. The inverter has been back to Segen Solar in CT, and also spent 3 weeks at Sunsynk (both claim everything to be 100%), yet the issue persists. My system has only worked for around 5 days out of the last 6 - 8 weeks, and is driving me insane. Any clues or ideas as to where I am going wrong, or what I may be missing ? Could it be the battery ? All and any help would be greatly appreciated

Horrible experience with Sunsynk support and warranty claim
Sorry to hear about your experiance. Sadly, I'm in a similar predicament with my Sunsynk 5.5kw inverter. The inverter was installed and set-up roughly 3 weeks ago. We discovered that any system settings would revert to what appears to be factory settings and would not save. The installer returned and managed to get a techinician to perform an online firmware update whilst the unit was in situ. This seemed to resolve the problem, but 1 day later, the "factory" settings returned. At this point I requested a replacement unit (R28 000 is a lot of money to pay for something that doesn't work) The installer returned, removed the unit, and unit was delivered to the supplier (Segen Solar in Cape Town). Here the unit was tested, another firmware update performed, unit deemed working and fine, note no replacement offered). Unit was again set-up by my installer, and settings entered. All seemed fine for 2 days, then the issue returned and I was back to "factory" settings. Unit has AGAIN been returned to Segen Solar. I have called them, but they refuse to speak to me as a customer and will only deal with the installer. I have reiterated my request for a replacement, but Segen Solar seem determined to return the "repaired" unit, despite the Consumer Protection Act stating that it is the consumer that makes the decision. I am utterly disappointed in the lack of customer support and the refusal to honor consumer "law" by Segen Solar. Whatever their own returns policy may be, it does not trump that of the CPA. So in 3 weeks, the unit has undergone 3 different "repairs". Right now, I'd just like my money back and go elsewhere. The unit is still with Segen Solar. Not holding my breath. Next step will be the legal offices.
