  1. I have not been able to reply for a few days, but I seem to have had some success. Further info is that this is NOT solar related. We had a day of rain yesterday, and the issue persisted while the panels were not producing anything worthwhile, and the house was not drawing anything large and the batteries were not charging. Someone advised that increasing the grid trickle feed figure would solve this problem. They said to increase it to say 80W, and monitor and to reduce it slowly every day until the problem occurs again to find the best setting for the meter. I set it to 80W this morning, and have had no interruptions in the grid supply, so maybe this bears the theory out. @TaliaB your info on the meters is great, thanks. The discussion I had with the municipal technician leads me to believe that he cannot/is not prepared to change anything on the meter, and I had in mind to request a change from a Conlog Meter to a Lansdis Gyr. if they will entertain it... My settings below, and I am happy with them. I am not exporting solar, but am exporting up to the CT coil placed on the incoming feed - ie, I am feeding my non essentials when I need to. This is why limit to load only is not ticked. Pic taken before the change to 80w grid feed.
  2. @Sidewinder , Thanks for the detailed reply, and the sensitivity of the meter lines up with my thinking. I will try convince them to swop out for a Landis Gyr meter.
  3. Thanks Bobster, as explained above Im aware of that issue, and that's not it. My meter remote is completely wireless, and remains connected throughout the "outage" and shows units available AND no errors, which the municipality asked to see. The actual meter is in the kiosk outside on the road. As regards loads, graphs etc. I use Solar Assistant, and cannot find anything unusual. The only thing I can say is that it seems to happen when the sun is strong, and the battery is charging. I have tried turning on a big load and off again to see if this triggers it, but no.
  4. Thanks MDF. I am aware of this issue when I helped out a neighbour with the same issue. My meter remote is completely wireless - only battery powered and cannot plug into a wall. So this would not be the issue here.
  5. Hi, I have a Sunsynk inverter and battery. I have 8 x 550w panels in 2 strings. The inverter is setup NOT to feed back to the grid, but to feed back to the CT Coil which is placed on the incoming live feed from the grid before the mains breaker. In other words, the inverter is limited to home. My trickle feed is set to 35W. We have a prepaid meter which sits in the kiosk and a remote battery operated terminal in the house. I have this recurring problem, at roughly the same time every day that the grid is cut off for short periods of time. Like 1 minute, then back on again. I have determined that this feed is being cut BEFORE coming into the house - ie at the meter. I have called the Municipality out, as I was suspecting a faulty meter. They tell me I am feeding back to the grid. this from the error codes on the meter. But this is not the way the inverter is programmed, and this only happens between 9 and 10 am almost every day. At this time the battery is usually charging nicely. Out side these times, there is no interruption. Any ideas? TIA>

  8. Thanks HendrikBigChief. Would that mean that the load figure includes the non essential draw?
  9. I recently installed a 5kw Sunsynk inverter, and it is set up to provide power to the essentials and to the non-essentials when there is PV power and battery available. In other words not limited to load. im very happy with the way it is working but the totals don’t add up. Im interested in my total household load, the contribution of PV and the Grid Import. My question is: does the Load (325.6 KWh) account for only the essentials? Because if I add up the PV and Import totals, I get a total of 410.3 KWh. This is the explanation that makes sense to me but I have no way currently of measuring the non-essential use. Interestingly, the import total is very close to my prepaid meter use.

  13. Fan noise can be a problem, depending upon where your inverter is placed. In my case, it is in a utility space which happens to be near my wife's study. We recently took over a friend's 5kw Mecer inverter to replace our older 3kw Mecer inverter. My wife has hearing similar to a dog (please don't let her read this!) and she was bothered by a high pitched whine from the inverter fans. I experimented with lower charge rates which helped to some degree, but the whine was still there. This morning I took out the inverter and removed the 2 fans. I cleaned them, and then removed the sticker in the middle of each fan. I put 3 or 4 drops of sewing machine oil in each bearing, and then spun each fan using a hair dryer to let the oil work itself in. I stuck back the stickers, refitted the fans and put the inverter back. It really has made a big difference, and there is once more peace in the home (In more than 1 way!) Im going to order new 80mm x 80mm ball bearing fans with a 4 pins lead to replace these, but this was worth posting in case it helps others.
  14. I am monitoring my setup with Solar Assistant. Every now and again, the inverters behaviour is inconsistent with the selected mode - It is set to SBU. Charge priority is set to Solar first. This afternoon, we have full sun - If i place a larger load on the inverter, it is not drawing the load from the panels - it draws from the battery. Not sure if this is an SA issue or an inverter issue, and how to correct it. Any ideas? EDIT: turning off battery, panels, mains to inverter and inverter, and then restarting seems to correct this. But it now seems to happen once every 2 weeks or so.
  15. Weird. Not sure how it would have been updated.... I have connected it to Power watch twice to configure it. To my knowledge it was a used unit prior to me getting my hands on it in February this year...??
  16. @Coulomb, it's 02.68. I read on another forum the Mecer show zero load if the load is below 100w. This was in the early hours of the morning, so it could be the load dropping to the base load of a few lights and electronics in a resting state. The lights were still on, though, so the inverter was producing power.

  18. My setup is as follows: Mecer SOL-I-AX-3Mplus48 Sunsynk 5.32 Battery 4 x 555w panels in 2 strings of 2 Solar Assistant Having installed Solar Assistant, I'm following the load and battery state to get a feel for how I want to set the inverter modes. I notice that the load measurement seems to drop to 0 every 15 mins or so for about 15 mins, then jumps up again. The load is not actually changing, but it appears that the inverter is measuring g it as such. Will a firmware upgrade sort this out?
  19. Thanks. I assumed so but worth asking.
  20. Hi. I have a Mecer 3KVa 48V inverter. It currently has 3 operating modes: UTI, SOL and SBU. I see other Axpert inverters have a SUB mode, which I would like. Can a firmware upgrade make this possible?
