  1. Hi shocking, 8 x panels in a single string onto one input. mine is the S6 pro. Fantastic machine honestly. Cannot fault a single thing so far. Just does what it should sam79 i used the rs485 network port, pins 4,5 and then used the pi usb connector they are available at solar assistant.
  2. I literally charged the battery from the grid once to get it full before loadshedding hit us and just to see what it will soak up. Rest of the days so far has been off Pv. Last night took us down to 63% and with solar this morning at 09:00 it was full. I have no intention of paying escom to charge the battery 😜
  3. Thanks Steve. This is my install and I am very happy with it so far. Just about on a week now. The equipment seems really good quality and it just works. Yes the initial setup with getting the wifi connected seems to be very counter intuitive but we finally got there. The solis cloud also now has time based settings but we basically chucked those out after day three when we went full export mode for all the excess solar. The ability for the inverter to run a full essential and non essential was what I wanted in the first place. It does it perfectly. Some of my friends was terribly worried about the no fans. Well the highest temp I saw this far was 58 degrees on a 34 degree day while i let it fill the battery from grid at 6000 watt. I am really impressed and very happy with the machine this far. Then that little slimline S-volt battery was my second surprise. It was cheap and it is really impressive how you can charge that guy. Definitely a 1c battery and the comms was just straight from the word go. We just selected the pylontech protocol and voila. Done. I have seen three days of easily just over 4000 watt output from the panels as well and what I paid for those from leroy merlin definitely made those worth while. All and all very very happy. I also managed to get solar assistant working on it with a R- pi 4 via the modbus. They don’t have modification support for the solis yet but metrics are working. Will look at home assistant and the dashboards soon. Once more thanks to steve and his team, great great guys to work with and it all just worked. COC done as well and really just happiness. Today we exported more to the grid than what we used in the house.
  4. Ok so I am getting my solis up and running today. I have a R-pi and have out home assistant on it. I sent a PM if you could have a look and give me a hand with your setup on HA. Much appreciated.

  6. Ha. Found one of the members selling a pi. So sorted there too. Now just to get this lot installed.
  7. I’ll take it please. Send me detail on whatsapp of how to contact you and make payment etc. or just send me your tel no. I’ll send contact detail on a private message
  8. Would not know where to buy something like Nuc second hand. I see new they are quite pricey. But I have a friend that can maybe find something like that for me.
  9. Sadly don’t have anything like HA runninng nor own anything like R-Pi. I also believe they are very hard to find these days. I see RS sells a rokt or something board that i see can also run HA. Will have to buy something for that. Yeah no issue signing non disclosure anything. I don’t have many friends anyway 🙃
  10. Ok so I bought Alex’s used S6 hybrid. Hope it the right decision but too late now 🙃. will have to look at HA / SA now and see. Phoenix you got HA working and you can change setup? No need to use the standard solis thing that seemed problematic when I read that inverter review? What hardware do I need for that? The s2-wl-st and then raspberry Pi?
  11. Thanks for the for sale link. Have asked. Complete missed that, was hectic with other stuff. Yes even if there is only 3kw on backup it will still work for me as long as I can go flatout on excess pv when it’s available. I also have seen several different specs varying from 3kw to 5kw. But as long as it does the feedback to grid it will do what I want. Thanks for everybody that weighed in.
  12. Hi all. My first post here. I have been reading here for a bundle of months. Want to buy an inverter that can feed excess solar to the grid ie items not on the essential bus. I know sunsync / deye and the s6 solis can but then I came across this guy which seems to do exactly that and at a decent price. Anybody have one of these you can share your experience with? https://powerforum-store.co.za/collections/inverters/products/solis-energy-storage-6kw-hybrid-5g-inverter-with-dc-switch
