  7. A recent install of a 6kw solis s6 inverter and solar system. The only item not on the essential list, powered by my inverter, is the oven. However, when powering the oven for the first time last week, i noticed that the inverter was feeding power back into the mains (and this my oven) from either the pv or the battery (depending what was stronger). This isnt supposed to be the case, as the oven draw alone is 3300w. We dont export back to the grid (which is disabled). Currently in self use mode, battery soc at 35%, grid peak shaving swith is enabled. Grid peak shaving watt is at 3000. And allow grid charge is enabled. I need to disable this feedback to power the oven, i…

  8. Does anyone know how to set up the Solis s6 6kw Inverter to be able to NOT pull power from the grid if battery is say above a certain percentage SoC e.g. 80%+ so that as we get towards the evening, if I have 100w Solar, but my load is 500w, the inverter will pull the deficit from the battery and not from the grid? This low Pv instance can also occur when there's a cloud passing overhead resulting in low Pv generation and I have seen the inverter then pulling power from the Grid. For me these "parasitic grid usages" outside of my normal grid time charge of 00:00-0600hrs adds up over time. I would want inverter to NOT PULL AT ALL from the grid during the day.

Hi,I am using the above Solis inverter with 2 Dyness batteries in parallel. I can't find in the display where to charge the batteries. Please advice! Thank you! Gerhard

  11. Hi everyone I'm looking at doing a new full installation for my house with the idea of maximizing on solar energy and trying to go through the evening on battery power to significantly reduce my bill and dependency on Eskom. Initially I was thinking to get 1 x Solis 8kw inverter, 10-12 solar panels (4 x South West roof and 8 x North West roof), and a Dyness 14.3kwh battery. But then I compared prices and 2 x Solis 6kw inverters seems to make a bit more sense in terms of cost, and capacity, etc. (10kw Sunsynk or 12kw inverters are slightly out of my budget) Another reason for 12kw in total, is that I just want to place all my home circuits on the inverter, perhaps with a…

Hi, I have a Solis S6 Pro Does any know the pins to use for the 3 wires for the RS485 to USB connection to use for Solar Assistant Regards, Mark.

  13. Can I use these panels with this inverter?

  14. Hi I have 2x of above mentioned inverters that will be installed within the next two weeks. I want to find out about Wind Turbines on these. Reputable china manufacturer has two options that I am considering: 1) 2KW vertical turbines which has a nominal voltage in the range of 60V. This would require their Solar charge connector and this would then directly connect straight to the battery bank. Now the inverters is connected to 3x Hubble AM5 batteries which has bms communication. If the turbine controller connects directly to the battery will this not affect the battery voltage between charging from inverter/solar vs turbine as there is now 2 sources of charging? 2) Alt…

  15. I seem to have read one of the reviews that the reason Solis has no LCD display such as the Deye/Sunsynk is to have "one less thing failing" on the inverter as an argument. This means one can only tweak Depth of Discharge changes or Charging parameters using the mobile app or wifi. I have a Solis S6 6Kw 1p Pro inverter and had an instance where my wifi was down. I was unable to connect to the inverter to see the flow-chart using bluetooth connectivity. Firstly, my wifi bundle ran out and I was unable to check how my Solis S6 was performing "locally" using bluetooth. Once I recharged with my Internet Service Provider, I had an issue where there was no internet connectivit…

  16. I've seen conflicting advice on whether to plug the generator into the Grid or Gen port, in an off-grid scenario. Which is better? The site is off-grid, with PV + Batteries + Generator.

  17. Started by Scorp007,

It seems that once equipment is sold the user is stuck. Following the update if the Solis Cloud APP it seems that Solis does not even care if the APP lost some functions. I wonder if there are any tests after an update as even the landing page being an overview one can see the PV installed is shown as zero. All places in the APP the correct data is displayed for 1 inverter. The 2nd inverter on the profile they changed the size. Further if they add up 1.5+1.5 their results is 2.5 ๐Ÿค” Now if they don't even act on the bad reviews it shows they don't really care. 1st picture shows the zero value of the new version. @SEGEN SOLAR @James Frank

  18. I've picked up from some other threads (can't find them now) where people managed to get Home Assistant / modbus comms with their Solis inverter, but then this would cause the datalogger to stop talking to Solis Cloud. Can anybody explain the details of this? The fact that my inverter (S6 Pro 8kw --- S6-EH1P8K-L-PRO) has a dedicated light on the panel for RS485 comms, and a dedicated port, makes me think it must be possible to talk to the inverter via RS485 without disrupting the datalogger. Is this just old information?

  19. I've had my Solis S6 Pro 8KW installed for 10 days now, and so far everything has been 100%. But since 9:28 AM this morning (7:28 UTC), my Solis Cloud (app + website) has shown my inverter as "offline", so I can't connect to it. The wifi at my house is working fine, and the inverter seems 100% fine otherwise. I placed a tplink Deco close to the inverter, so wifi signal strength should not be an issue, and the wifi signal strength graphs showed good numbers. Is this just a periodic thing that happens with these devices, or should I investigate further? Thanks!

  20. Hi all, considering getting one of these. I saw in an older thread that in Home Assistant there is no way to set the depth of discharge. Is that still the case or is there a workaround using MQTT or something? I coming from a Goodwe 4.6kW so if anyone has experience with the Solis and Goodwe and can highlight any potential deal breakers I would appreciate it

  21. UPDATE 2023/12/02: The following is easier to implement, and much less overhead and setup: https://github.com/Pho3niX90/solis_modbus This comes mainly from the following repo: https://github.com/fboundy/ha_solis_modbus There are a couple helpers there, which also writes to the inverter to change workmode, you could also easily change SOC with some automations etc. CONS: The datalogger will no longer report to the cloud, but support will still be able to assist with firmware upgrades, and remotely change settings PROS: Faster comms and data retrieval (configurable). There will be no more need to use the solis app, except for …

  23. Started by Stephan van Tonder,

Hi all. My first post here. I have been reading here for a bundle of months. Want to buy an inverter that can feed excess solar to the grid ie items not on the essential bus. I know sunsync / deye and the s6 solis can but then I came across this guy which seems to do exactly that and at a decent price. Anybody have one of these you can share your experience with? https://powerforum-store.co.za/collections/inverters/products/solis-energy-storage-6kw-hybrid-5g-inverter-with-dc-switch

  24. I'd like to know whether it is possible to integrate a Solis PV inverter (S5-GC25K for example) with an existing Sunsynk system (2 x 12kW 3ph inverters in parallel, 3 x 10kWh Sunsynk batteries)?

  25. Started by Skusku,

Hi I want to ask about the connections when connecting 2x inverters and 2x batteries together please. On the AC Side: I believe there should only be a single set of breakers for both inverters? On the DC Battery Side: A single dc dis-connector connected to both batteries and inverters. Or should each inverter have its own dc dis-connector? BMS Cable: Is this correct as per wiring diagram? PV: Feeding to one inverter at this stage. (If ever required, I will add pv to the other inverter.) BUT WILL THE PV PANELS CHARGE BOTH BATTERIES? DC Battery Cables: Will 50mm do or do I need higher? AC Cables: 10mm or 16mm? Distance is about 2m from DB and…
