Hi @zabdab , have a look at my recent post here to start the journey of analysing and controlling your Geyserwala with Home Assistant that gives you much more control on where you want how much heat as opposed to the one dimensional boost function.

Daily heating starts at 12:00pm from the Geyserwala schedule utilising my solar without any Eskom power With a big family comes unexpected showers in the afternoon/evening and this is where HA comes in handy to watch it with some neat conditional logic to avoid me having to shower cold the next morning. Paste the text as is in your YAML editor and then switch to the visual editor to see the logic in a more appetising way: GeyserAutomation.rtf Under the visual editor it will look like this: I also put a Sonoff in front of the Geyserwala so that I could precisely log energy usage. and removed the bracket from the Geyserwise thermostat to fit my Tecron geyser using older VKF11 type thermostat without the pins at the back. (Link) and finally some insulating foam on the exiting hot water pipe to retain some heat over colder nights as a counter to the standing loss. and for the first time much more precise temperature readings available to gain better control on energy usage and patterns.

Some comments 1: No thermostat means that I cannot control the temperature with a Home Assistant nanny watching it for lower temp action to heat. 2: Not sure what plumbing failure you are referring to here? The element wont cause that. The geyser wall is at highest risk of failure due to the thin material they use to cut costs. I have an old school copper inner. 3: Insurance wil NEVER decrease in light of this element being used over a conventional one. 4: The more I read the more members debunk their outlandish claims of energy savings.

Their claims make no sense: Body of water = the same (150l) Draw different : 2kw vs 3kw and yet you claim that 2kw of energy outperforms 3kw?? It is like saying a 100kw Gti will go 0-100 the same or faster than a 200kw model? Makes ZERO sense and the "tests" they did would have to be verified by independent 3rd party. I mailed them to say if my Sonoff shows that their 2kw does not equal or better the "cold start" heating time and energy then they have to refund me.... DEATHLY silence. I will not be going this route, smoke and mirrors while paying a substantially higher price for a doubtfull benefit.

@Pho3niX90 what I am seeing with the latest modbus in my setup is intermittent data loss - This creates other problems where I have HA automation rules for example that looks when grid frequency goes to 0 only to find that it was a false positive. My datalogger is connected with CAT6 and tests 300mbps. In the Solis.yaml you have set the scan interval to every 60 seconds. In the Modbus method the sensor.py has a 5 second scan interval. Could it be that such a short interval across mutliple metrics could cause an issue? I like the added data metrics coming in but it degrades in the usability if the data ingestion is this sporadic...

"The datalogger will no longer report to the cloud, but support will still be able to assist with firmware upgrades, and remotely change settings" Is this also true for the Phoenix Modbus? Since enabling it my SolisCloud has gone dead

So I should then rather do a state rule in HA for more than and less than as the trigger?

Fellow Powerforum(ers) I have a S6, installed the Modbus integration https://github.com/Pho3niX90/solis_modbus which is way better HA integration than anything I have tested. I am trying to setup a rule that notifies me when Eskom goes off and on again. There is a metric: Solis S6 Solis Status that currently reads value "3" I am struggling to find any information on the values that they change to if the grid is live or dead. Asked Solis SA support to assist and they gave this very disinterest, flat reply: "Please note, the team can offer support if the platform being used is SolisCloud. If another platform besides SolisCloud is being used for monitoring, we unfortunately cannot offer support as this is not a product of Solis." I am currently getting a mail from SolisCloud (based on the alarm condition set as standard) when Eskom goes off. But not when it comes back online. My power slope limit was set to 600% when I logged in - changed it to 50% like yours and will monitor it. Update 19 September, this from local Solis SA support: Default setting is 600

You beauty! It has returned the backup Side. I never switched it off. At that moment I was reducing the current on the battery charge and discharge when it cut.
