Daily heating starts at 12:00pm from the Geyserwala schedule utilising my solar without any Eskom power


With a big family comes unexpected showers in the afternoon/evening and this is where HA comes in handy to watch it with some neat conditional logic to avoid me having to shower cold the next morning.

I also put a Sonoff in front of the Geyserwala so that I could precisely log energy usage.




and removed the bracket from the Geyserwise thermostat to fit my Tecron geyser using older VKF11 type thermostat without the pins at the back. (Link)
and finally some insulating foam on the exiting hot water pipe to retain some heat over colder nights as a counter to the standing loss.


and for the first time much more precise temperature readings available to gain better control on energy usage and patterns.

Sure - For the single wires 'n used bootlace ferrules, you get them in 1.5, 2.5, 6 and 10's. 
Crimp with a crimper from Majortech (Chamberlains). The double's going into the single port was too tight so I used a 25 mm pin lug, bought from CQ Electrical in Pta. 
You can use a smaller pin lug if you are running 6mm wires. 
 
I have systematically crimped every multistrand wire in my house. 

Yes 2 in 2 out. Solis has two MPPT's - Used a 12 way for the job which came down to R2.7k and my time. 

In the end I wired it up like this using Beny

Given this house of my friend that is not facing North, what is the best configuration - all 10 panels West, or 5 East and 5 West on separate MPPT's?
He has x10 Canadian Solar 605W's

Given the fact that his optimal azimuth angle is slightly east it makes more sense to put all 10 panels on the eastern side of the second storey?

....but yours is different firmware and internals. You cannot load 113 on a 40.06. Growatt mistakenly gives all these different inverters the same model number.
 

Panels are facing direct North with a 35 degree pitch

VOC makes much more sense. I will stick with 10 panels that will be within spec without melting my inverter to a crisp.

Hi 
 
I have a Growatt SPF 5000 ES. Spec states Max. PV Array Open Circuit Voltage as 450Vdc.
I have ten 605W panels arriving end of July.
Some installation sites in Australia mentions that you can overload your PV supply safely up to a maximum off 33%.
So my inverter can take 5,98 max if I load the 4,5 with 33%?
Any advice?

I got a reply from Growatt on my inverter firmware files.
 
Here is the link they sent me and it answers many of the questions guys had on the newer chip and version number format that is in the 68 range.
