Mounting the Multiplus 48/1200VA with the AC side up should be fine as long as you maintain proper ventilation—Victron recommends at least 10 cm clearance around the unit, especially the top and bottom for airflow. Just make sure no dust or water can settle on the connectors. As for the AC out fuse, I agree with the 10A suggestion. It provides decent protection while still allowing for short bursts, which the 1200VA unit is capable of handling. Double-check your downstream load as well to size it correctly. Looks like a great camper setup coming together!

Hey Marius, Good on you for making the move—it's something a lot of us are seriously considering, especially with the basic charge creeping higher while actual consumption drops thanks to solar. I'm not a direct Eskom client either, so I had to go the municipal route like you're planning. In my case (Stellenbosch), I had to submit a written request with proof of ownership and ID, plus a photo of the meter showing the final reading. Took about two weeks to finalize, including someone coming out to seal the meter. Let us know which municipality you're dealing with—processes can vary quite a bit.
