  1. Hello, Can anyone recommend a decent solution for monitoring your home energy usage? Not just an old fashioned kwh meter but something that can be checked over the web or at least have data logging for graphing and processing. I currently have a Efergy Engage, but I am not convinced it is accurate. Thank you.
  2. Cheap enough to try I see.
  3. Hi, I did not mean to offend or flame, was just stating what I have been through. I am assuming that its also easier to get your hands on that brand compared to the rest of the stuff. If it is any consolation I have experienced the same with Gasy geysers. Ask for a Rinnai, Bosch or Paloma and get swung a Atlas thats R3k cheaper online. Asked for a closed combustion fireplace, get quoted on a megamaster cast iron thing with 60% efficiency. It is just something that happens, mega frustrating. The buzz word of the year is definitely where it is the worst.
  4. So, this was only sorted last week. After MANY mails, calls and threats the dumb-ass distributor finally took it in for testing. Found nothing wrong with it but also could not find the EZ meter I sent with so they test with theirs. Luckily they sent a spare EZ meter back and when I opened the box mine was still in there, no one even saw it. (dont get me started!!) Anyways, turns out it was the EZ meter. I have had zero export now for 7 days, everything is running just fine. Will I buy another GoodWe product? Not as long as those knobs represent the brand in SA.
  5. Do you think this has to do with your supplier on this one? The wankers in strydom park? As an end user I witnessed my reseller fight with their incompetence for months to look at my equipment after GoodWe in China told them to replace it. Absolutely useless.
  6. Hello, I pretty much had the same crap. I eventually just did it myself and paid the place I bought it all from (reseller) to have a peek before it went on. Cost me a few hundred, thats it. Goodwe Inverter, 12x Panels on Tiled roof, Pylontech battery. All pretty trunking(non shared), correct isolators and breakers where required. It is absolutely insane how idiotic some of these bakkei brigade guys are, I have had 3 tell me to not bother with GoodWe, Fronius or Victron as Their preferred brand (Axpert) is way better. So much so that I found one of them on this very forum asking what the error codes mean. As soon as the water costs go up those guys will take off the solar installer stickers and put on plumbing services ones.
  7. Thank you sir. I will keep this on hand should things get worse with the GoodWe saga. Also helps understanding the Victron stuff. So I got some action from GoodWe and Segen, slow action but action nonetheless. Unfortunately the FW upgrade failed and now everyone has gone silent. I shall remain patient Ah yes, my battery has also been ordered so the system will resemble something decent once all is done.
  8. Thank you sir. I will keep this on hand should things get worse with the GoodWe saga. Also helps understanding the Victron stuff.
  9. Having said all that. what would the equivalent Victron solution be? I have 12x 335w panels in 2x6 up already, could go 1x12 if it saves for now. No battery yet, cause no one wants to sell me one GoodWe 5048-EM (4.6/2.3kw) My house uses very little during dire times so do not need much more than that. Thanks.
  10. So I got a response of someone who looped in the distributor stating that they need to assist. Which is shitty because all they will do is get on the resellers case, which in turn want to charge me to come out and will only have time in June. Herewith my response to them, am I being unreasonable? Hello, Thank you for your prompt response. As stated before, I am not a direct customer of Segen but a customer of one of Segen's resellers. Since everyone in South-Africa is too busy I thought I would contact GoodWe directly to see if you can either assist with a remote firmware upgrade or enable me to do it myself. I am doubtful that Segen will help me as it is their reseller responsibility to do this type of work. It is not common in my book to have to be caught up in a world of up and down mails for something I can technically do myself but I do not want to void warranty so this is why I am asking. I will be honest though that right now this entire experience has left a very bad taste for me, I understand that technical issues may arise with equipment I definitely do. But of the 3 identical setups I have been involved with the others have all had minor issues addressed with a firmware upgrade and were helped by this same method. Yet now that I am asking politely for myself I get all the issues attached to this mail. I sincerely doubt that I would even recommend GoodWe products to any of my friends in the market for a solution. In fact, I am considering just leaving my equipment off until I have cooled down because right now I am flabbergasted at what I need to do to get some basic support. Kind Regards
  11. Thank you. I might mail him too. I do not have a battery yet (backorder, or no one returning call for free monies) do I need to have a battery connected for the FW to update? Thank you.
  12. Thank you, I have contacted both actually. Hope I get somewhere.
  13. HI, Thank you for your reply. I have also mailed him to, considering just doing it myself though. This is frustrating.
  14. I have indeed. They sent me to the people who sold it to me, whom I have no issues with. They just do not have time to tend to me. A friend up the road told me tonight that with his inverter (same one different place of purchase) he had the same issues and it was solved by a new firmware, not even the latest just anything newer than the one on it. Thing is though, that even though I know how to do the firmware on it. I am at risk of voiding the warranty and if GoodWe do not want to do it I am stuck having to wait for the place that sold it to me.
  15. I am learning so much about trees here now it is amazing. I just installed a closed combustion fireplace, ordered a load of Bluegum and struggled badly with getting it to burn properly without adding some kind of much lighter wood that burns easier. I even wondered what if I tried blackwattle, and randomly had my questions answered by your thread. Thank you
