Gas Geyser to supplement Solar Hot water Geyser
Hello Ian, I'm in the same position as you. The evt's are not performing in winter. Have you made a decision on this? Can you share some experience and associated costs? Thanks

SOLD: Goodwe ES5048, 350w & 435w Panels and LBSA 5.1 kWh battery
A grid-tied electrical system, also called tied to grid or grid tie system, is a semi-autonomous electrical generation or grid energy storage system which links to the mains to feed excess capacity back to the local mains electrical grid. When insufficient electricity is available, electricity drawn from the mains grid can make up the shortfall. Conversely when excess electricity is available, it is sent to the main grid. When the Utility or network operator restricts the amount of energy that goes into the grid, it is possible to prevent any input into the grid by installing Export Limiting devices. This is what the Inverter does. However, I understand that people have their own views on jargon.

Sunsynk - CT Clamp
No it's fed from the Eskom feed at the boundary. The main Grid connection does come to the house. I see that some have extended it using CAT 5e shielded cable, have you any experience doing this ?
-
Sunsynk - CT Clamp
My feed to the inverter is about 30 metres. From the feed, a direct 16mm2 cable feeds an outbuilding. If the CT coil is installed in the main house, the sunsynk won't supplement power to the outbuilding. Can the CT coil cable be extended by 30 to 40 metres?

Goodwe ES Automated Upgrade 1818
Hello Leon Mines did the same -- in the evening nogal, all the lights went off. Then I see that the inverter is restarting. Only the following day I see that it was updated. How is your wifi connection since ? Does your WIFI LED turn off at all?
-
Goodwe ES 5048
There is however, changing that makes no difference. The vendor has access to more settings remotely and they are able to adjust it to get it to work.

Goodwe ES 4.6kW WiFi reset
Gerald, Naz - how has your wifi on your Goodwe been since ?
-
Goodwe cutting power to house
Your ES 5048 has an LCD screen ? Mines hasn't given these issues, however, you need to ensure that you do not run any high demanding inductive loads on the backup side. If this is done, then it will trip and restart. So far, the only issue is the Wifi LED turning off and fails to restore unless the whole unit is turned off. Running FW 1818 now.

Goodwe ES 5048
The inverter being 5kva is completely capable of running that load. In fact, when it was connected to 4 x 105ah SLA batteries, it ran fine running the washing machine. This is a defect on the firmware it seems as 2 x Pylons are capable of delivering 50A which is more than enough. We installed 1 more Pylon making it 3 in total and guess what, it still did not work.

Goodwe ES 5048
Probably, but that will cost R13k, ideally it will be nice to try one before buying.

Goodwe ES 4.6kW WiFi reset
My WIFI fw version is V1.0.3.8. Inverter FW is 171710. WIFI works fine from a few days to 3 weeks and then the LED turns off and the Inverter has to be restarted completely. FW updates and dongle replaced and problem persists. While it works it updates to SEMS without a problem. While it's down, it transmits nothing. This is very irritating.

Goodwe ES 5048
There's one more experience that I must share with the Goodwe ES5048. When running in Backup Mode ( Grid offline) it cannot run a Speed Queen 8.2kg Top Loader with 2 x 2.4kwh PylonTechs. Interestingly, before I had the Pylons, I had 4 105ah SLAs and it ran the washing machine fine. However it runs an 1800 watt vacuum clean without a problem. When trying to run the washing machine, it trips and auto restarts the backup output.

Goodwe ES 5048
Hello, sorry for the delay. Yes, all power inputs need to be switched off. BTW, when the Goodwe is in this state, pressing the wifi button does not restore WIFI. I did notice that the WIFI LED turns off and on and back to off though. In my instance, the actual WIFI LED turns off. SO the wifi AP no longer broadcasts ( Solar Wifixxxxxx). True.

Goodwe ES 5048
I've had the Goodwe for about 7 months now and it works really well. The only issue I have is that the WIFI switches off completely periodically. To restore WIFI, the inverter needs to be restarted. Has anyone else experienced this ? Firmware is upto date as well.

Advice needed
The Goodwe Es is the most suitable. The Axperts cannot combine grid and solar power. So if the axpert is generating 3kw and your demand is 4kw, 4kw will be pulled from the Grid. You don't need any PI to monitor generation either. It comes with wifi and access to Sems portal.

Goodwe EM 5kw
Thanks Johan. The plan is to add more panels gradually. With 2 MPPTs I plan to add another string on the North West roof. Stove is on Grid, I have 3 phase power and a separate DB with a UPS for critical loads. The plan is to replace the UPS with a solar inverter.

Goodwe EM 5kw
Hello, I have a specific use case and I'm unsure whether the EM 5KW can satisfy it. Basically I want to run a 1 Kw pool pump, fridge, freezer and washing machine during the day whist charging the 48v lead acid 100aH battery bank. There will be 6 x 355w Mono panels as a start. 1. I only want to switch to the battery backup in the event of AC failure. 2. if solar power generation is insufficient, I want AC to supplement power, not the batteries. 3. Is it fine running a 1 kw pool pump on the Goodwe ? 4. Does the Goodwe EM have at least 2 AC outs ? ie 1 for critical loads e.g lights and 1 for non critical loads ? So lights on critical and pool pump on non critical so in the event of AC failure, only the lights will be powered by the batteries. Can this be achieved using the Goodwe EM 5kw ? Thanks very much.
