These insert-type terminals are not lead - something a lot harder, so I'm not concerned about stripping the thread, more worried of the fact that the entire terminal rotated in the casing.

I have a tendency to over-tighten bolts and nuts: When torquing-down the M8 bolts on 4 x Ritar 100AH VRLA batteries, I tried my best to take it easy, but noticed a small rotational-shift when tightening one of the terminal bolts. Does this mean I may have damaged the seal? How tight do you guys make your terminal bolts? Does anyone apply grease to the terminals? PS. The spec. sheet has a figure of 10 n.m - but I don't have a torque wrench with that low a setting.

If you are completely off the grid, I reckon you will need a generator and a battery charger. Or wait for a sunny day.

Old thread this, but here goes: Anyone here have experience with the Ledvance / Osram LED floodlights? I need about fifteen 10 watt floods for perimeter security. I've always considered the Osram brand to be the best, but it seems this may no longer be the case. Maybe I'm better off going with half as many 20 watters. One sees these cheap 10w floods for R60 so - wonder if they are any good.

As a bonus, the MP-II GX has a small display. One would have to buy a Venus Colour Control to get a screen, albeit a much better display. Anyway, I would have waited for the GX version if I had known it was on the horizon.

I just noticed that there is a new GX version of the Multiplus-I, the Multiplus-II GX, that includes a Venus unit, plus Ethernet and USB ports. I'm feeling pretty bummed as I had to shell-out major extra cash to get this functionality.

We updated the firmware to the latest version which appears to have solved the problem.

Yep, I going to take it back to the supplier and have them check it out. Is a factory reset the same as 'Set all settings to default'? Tried this multiple times without success. Thank you for your replies. I hope the batteries have not been damaged by their 'boil'.

Hi Anyone here have a similar experience? I recently semi-installed a Multiplus II with 4 x Ritar 100AH lead-carbon batteries. As my DB need to be overhauled, I decided to connect the unit up as a charger only, to keep the batteries charged until we are ready to complete the installation. Out the box, with the default settings, everything was fine, and the battery settled onto a float within an hour. Next morning, I had a little time and decided to use VE Config 3 and a MK3 interface to check the settings, I mainly wanted to lower the charge current to 15 amps. The process proceeded quite smoothly and the system was restarted with the new settings. Then I noticed a faint boiling sound coming from the batteries. A check with a volt meter indicated the charge voltage was over 60 volts! The charger remains on absorption and will not stop. Needless to say, I removed the battery fuse and went back to the settings page. Checking and re-checking the battery and charger values. The charge voltage remains at over 60 volts even though VE Config indicates that it is 56 volts (the value that I set it at).
