I've searched here and cannot find any topics relating to this. If this has been covered elsewhere please direct me to the thread. What's the nett effect of parallelling strings of like panels with strings of like panels but different characteristics? E.g. 3 x 315W, Voc 40.53, Isc 9.98 panels connected in series parallelled with 3 x 350W, Voc 46.6, Isc 9.51 panels connected in series. I'm referring in particular when they are connected in parallel using a combiner box. I hope this makes sense because I'm having difficulty phrasing the question properly.
  2. @phil.g00 gave them a thumbs up. I personally really considered them but he 350W VOC was not a good fit with my MPPT.
  3. As per the title, it came with my Axpert MKS 5kva unit circa August 2015.
  4. https://www.victronenergy.com/live/venus-os:start I went with the Venus GX. If I remember correctly plonkster said The Venus GX had a faster processor as well.
  5. Thanks, @plonkster. I'm just trying to repurpose the multitude of networking and other bits I have lying around. I know the Venus has no video hardware but was hoping someone had perhaps hooked up a tablet that was being charged by the USB port, mounted close to the Venus etc. etc. etc. I was also wondering what other WiFi adapters could be used apart from the ones that are mentioned here https://www.victronenergy.com/live/ccgx:start#internet_connectivity
  6. I have one of these https://www.tp-link.com/lk/home-networking/adapter/tl-wa890ea/ which draws power from a 5VDC / 1A micro USB connection. How can I use the Venus' 5V DC output to power it? Also, is there a way of connecting a permanent display to the Venus?

  8. https://thepowerstore.co.za/products/jinko-300w-eagle-mono-perc-maxim-smart-module-silver-frame One online store. I'm sure better prices are available with a bit of shopping around.
  9. So after all the posts here are we any closer to what the minimum temperature setting should be for the highveld? I'm about to go with this to negate any overvoltage issues.
  10. I've been using -5 (Midrand) as my min temperature setting and the Victron MPPT calculator rejects most of the modern high power 72 cell panels when you go 3S for my 150/70.

What's the problem with the first 2?
  12. Anyone here has any experience with Jinko Eagle Mono PERC Maxim Cell Optimised Smart panels causing radio frequency interference. https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/jinko-mx-solar-panels/
  13. They're having an Easter Sale now. The prices seem pretty good. This interests me https://artsolar.net/product/350-watt-solar-panel-full-black @NigelL What panels do you have?
  14. I actually meant I have 2 bars of 250mm length each. This is a bit of a moot point now though as I have acquired a bar measuring 300(L) x 30(W) x 10(H), fairly substantial and should be good for around 500A I think.
  15. I messed up and got copper bar that I think is insufficient. Would 15mm x 3mm be adequate or should I just try to repurpose the 2 x 250mm bars or is there a way to rescue the situation? I would have used the facepalm emoji here but I know @plonkster doesn't like emojis.
  16. Based on that document it seems one cannot run a Pylon on a Victron Multi without a CCGX or Venus GX. A CANBUS type B cable is also required. Is this correct, if so where does one get such a cable?
  17. Brand would be Jean Müller??
  18. Got it. So not 100% necessary.
  19. George, Thanks. That 'DC Distribution' piece is what is missing. Regards
  20. Could someone please explain how one would connect a Victron MPPT together with a Pylon battery and an inverter. A picture would paint a thousand words as well. Is there a small piece of hardware that ties it all up missing in the 3 pieces I've mentioned?
  21. I certainly do. There are more than a few people here that deserve appreciation. Anyone else has any thoughts on the minimum temperature setting when using the Victron MPPT Calculator, VE-MPPT-Calc, if one lives in the Johannesburg area?
  22. Where's the facepalm emoji when you need it... I'm referring to the Victron 150/35 which does a little shy of the 37A recommended. Also, what does one set as the minimum temperature when using the Victron MPPT Calculator, VE-MPPT-Calc, if one lives in the Johannesburg area? @plonkster You know you suck thumb better than most... thank you.
  23. Will the Victron SmartSolar adequately charge a Pylon US3000B? I notice in the Pylon brochure it states Charge Current 37A (Recommended), see pic below. Would I be better off going with a bigger Victron MPPT unit seeing also as I intend adding another US3000b and more panels in the future? Plonkster??
  24. Well, I feel for him. He has a forum here to explain himself and it would serve him well to do so.
