Using an inverter generator to charge the inverter battery during prolonged grid outages and no sun
Why not just charge the batteries with the 2kw and let the inverter decide the distribution. Install Tuya devices for your geyser etc

Sunsynk vs Victron
Thank you kindly for the response. I changed my 8kw to a 10kw with 3 x MPPT and installed a string of 7 x 610w East so I have a overdesigned system, but I will benefit greatly in the winter months
-
Why do strings give same production?
I have 9 x 550w panels North with 9 x 550w panels West. I installed a 3rd string on my no 3 Mppt, 7 x 610w panels East What find strange is that all three strings produce the same amount of electricity at 07H30 in the morning. I would have expected my East panels to outperform my West panels Any reasonable explanation for it

Inverter trips in DB box when Eskom have a power failure
Yes, that is the one tripping

Inverter trips in DB box when Eskom have a power failure
- Inverter trips in DB box when Eskom have a power failure
- Inverter trips in DB box when Eskom have a power failure
I have a 8kw Sunsynk, with 18 550watt panels and 3 x Bsl batt Powerline 5 batteries. I have noticed every now and then, when Eskom has a failure, my inverter trips in the inverter DB box Why would that be- Sunsynk vs Victron
I have a 8kw Sunsynk 10kw inverter with 18 550w north and west with 3 x Bslbatt 5 kw batteries My neighbour around the corner installed 2 x 5kw Victron inverters with 16 panels and 4 x Freedom Won batteries. At the same time during the day, his solar panels deliver 5 to 6 kw whereby mine only hover at 3 to 3.5kw I have posted about this before but never actually got an answer. Must I just accept that Victron setup is better than Sunsynk???- Inverter comparison 2025 - Help me choose
Victron is good but way to expensive.- Solar assistant underreads Grid used
I have noticed that Solar Assistant considerably underreads my Grid used in the past eight months Sunsynk app shows 1033 units used in the past eight months Mogale meter shows 1008 units used in the past eight months Solar assist shows 746 units used in the past eight months that equates to a 38% under reading Solar Assistant website "Contact us" doesn't work so I am not sure how to fix this error- System Upgrade Conundrum
Option 1- Add solar panels
I had a brainwave. I need your opinion. I have 18 x 550watt solar panels installed on my roof. 9 north and 9 west. My 8kw Sunsynk only have 2 mppt's. So I cannot add a third string on the east side of my house. But what if I install 6 x 620 watt panels on the east side, connect it to some sort of device that only allows one side to be used at a time. So let's say from 06H00 to 10H00 the device or switch cuts off the west side completely and only draw from the east side and then after 10h00 isolate the east side completely and only draws from the west side until 17H00. The device must switch over automatically with say a 1 minute delay before the west start giving electricity to the mppt. Can something like this work- Feed into grid
My apologies, my neighbour installed it and I am asking on his behalf. I think the brand is Ecco. But his electricity bill went sky high. I told him about my Sunsynk and the Ct clamp preventing feeding back. I told him I will try and find out on this forum because I am not 100% sure as well- Feed into grid

I have a 5kw inverter and a 5kw battery with no solar panels. Chinese make. Is it possible to feed back into the grid with this setup. My electricity bill increased drastically- Solar panel optimisers
I have a 8kw Sunsynk inverter with 12 x 550 Jinko panels in 2 strings During winter my panels get shade from my neighbours trees Will Solar Optimisers help and are they compatible with Sunsynk?- Solar optimizers

Thank you - I updated my profile - the 3 x 5kw Sunsynks and 11400 watts of solar panels was at my previous house - I mentioned earlier that I had 4 x Hubbles and they were fully charged by 11H00 in the mornings Currently I have 2 strings of 9 x 550watt panels - One facing North and one facing West (not enough room on my roof to allow all 18 facing north) The panels West start producing at around 09H00 and then pick up - I can see it when I switch on appliances- Batteries not charging fast enough
Hi - both charge and discharge of the Battery already set at 155A - I followed your steps- Batteries not charging fast enough
- Batteries not charging fast enough
They are the BSLBATT Powerline 5 https://bslbatt.co.za/bsl-powerline-5/- Batteries not charging fast enough
Thank you - I am a total novice and don't touch the Inverter settings - what you say make sense and I will discuss with my installer At my previous house I had 3 x 5kw Sunsynk inverters with 4 x 5.5kw Hubble batteries and 11kw of panels - 11H00 in the mornings my batteries were fully charged In this case currently they are full only late in the afternoons and my Inverter throttle back the whole time- Batteries not charging fast enough
Hi I installed a 8kw Sunsynk inverter with 18 x 550 watt JA solar panels and 3 x BSLbatt 5 kW batteries My question is why will the Inverter throttle the charging of the batteries on a clear sunny day when I have no load - sun is shining flatout but by batteries only charge +- 3000 to 3500 watt If I then switch on the kettle or my heatpump the panels immediately gives more electricity I would like to charge my batteries quicker rather than later in the afternoon - Inverter trips in DB box when Eskom have a power failure
