  1. yes, I noticed that too... and using the latest Win version - still need to try the MAC version.. but it seemed a version or two behind...
  2. thanks jhay I'm wondering whether that bit of power drawn from the grid is not a side effect of the PV... I don't have PV yet (awaiting roof installation authorisation from the body corporate in our estate), and when I switch off the main supply (i.e. load shedding), my input power is zero QPIGS (000.0 000000 00.0 0002.9 230.9 00597 49.9 002.5 023 401.1 401.1 049.7 ---.- 062 00000 00627 ----- 053.7 ---.- ---.- 024.0 D---110101 BTW, what FW versions does your device have?
  3. on QPIGS: - 4 (0006.2) Load AC Ampere. Probably the max of real or apparent. don't you think this is Grid AC amps? Load current is at "- 8"
  4. yes, I will try that.. but I was hoping to get some info of how these two settings interact... of people that have tried them before...
  5. thanks jhay.! very handy commands indeed! - much appreciated! where are these from - I don't see them in the protocol doc? logging from the solarpower app? I see some of the results there... - did a log yesterday.. an djust glanced at the log... still need to work through it...
  6. I have an infini 3kplus and want to monitor some of basic values.. there is a thread on the Axpert MKS here: http://powerforum.co.za/topic/311-axpert-mks-stats/?p=3016 and the spec that we are using comes from an Australian forum and is for their version of the Axpert devices: http://forums.aeva.asn.au/forums/pip4048ms-inverter_topic4332.html I got a serial-to-usb converter (using an FTDI one), and a serial extension cable.. downloaded realterm and connected to my infini... (settings are 2400bps, 1start, 8bit, 1stop, no parity) there are a whole list of commands that seem to work on the infini devices too.. some points to note: the start character that is returned is a bracket "(", so you can ignore that the last two characters are the 16bit CRC, you can ignore those for now too... So, when I ask for the Serial number, I get: (96131503100198.
  7. Need some help with charging settings... It seems my batteries are not charging... I have no PV at present - just the infini 3k+ and 4x Sonic Gel 200Ah here's the summary: We can see: light load of 8%, battery voltage at 52.2V and zero charging current - on the graphic it also states Bypass without charging... and my parameters as such: Below you can see I se the charger to switch off if the charge current is <0.7A for a period of 60minutes, BUT is should switch back on if the voltage is <53V... which is doesn't seem to do... MyPower management is set as follows: Now I'm not sure how the battery schedule settings in MyPower interact/influence the settings in the Parameter setup...? Any suggestions welcome... best Stephan
  8. just for interest on the above, re the Sonic 200Ah Gel batteries: Float Service: 2.25V / cell @ 20/25C Cycle Service: 2.35V / cel/ @ 20/25C that means I set my bulk charge to 56.4V (2.35 * 6 * 4), and my float voltage to 54.0V (2.25 * 6 * 4). and set the max charging current to 20A (C/10).. best Stephan
  9. Is anyone using Sonic GEL batteries? I would like to know what your settings are pls? best Stephan
  10. When one wants to change this setting it requires a factory password... Does anyone know what that is? thanks Stephan
  11. See links above... (post #22)
  12. thanks for the link! much appreciated! Anyone have any good references to a GOOD electrician that can do the install (according to spec ;-) )? - I have 3 phase and need to move all the lights to the backup bus - I need some (*and herein lies the "challenge"*) power points on the backup bus too (TV, fridges, alarm, study) No PV yet.. that needs to happen in the next month or so... best Stephan
  13. hi doppies, where did you download the SolarPower software? On the http://www.voltronicpower.com/software.php page, I see only the ViewPower ViewPowerPro SNMP Web Manager MPPTracker best Stephan
  14. I agree with wetkit and plonkster... it takes a fixed amount of energy to raise the temp 1 L of water by 1 degC... where you can save is: heating less water, heating a smaller temperature differential and saving/preventing unwanted losses (that indirectly create a larger temperature differential) @ plonkster: I've been playing with the same idea you have... AC in one side, Solar panel other side and small controller that aims to get my geyser to a set temp at a set time... and if solar is not enough or not available it switches back to AC... two things to remember: 1. switchmode supplies for large power don't have the same charachteristics as ones for small power (and are a lot more lossy) 2. once your voltage goes too low, there just simply is not enough energy to heat the element I have 4x 300W panels that I'm planning to use.. and then seeing what I can do with 3... (minimizing the capital outlay)... however another way of thinking about it, is what do people have that already have solar strings... If one repurposes the string, one could use it as is... (then probably a buck converter, as many of the strings are above 250V) - but quite doable.... maybe a short survey: - what is your installed PV rating (voltage and Power) - are you already making max use of it (or does it have idle time) now granted if most don't have idle time, then you would need additional panels and then one would like to optimize for minimum panels for maximum effect... best Stephan
  15. hi Clint just for interest sake, what battery are you using as the separate battery? And what charger are you using to charge the leaf from the separate battery? (or does your charger have an input for a separate DC supply?) best Stephan
  16. Roger that.. thanks!
  17. hi All, How would one switch panels in and out of service? I just replied to a post asking for more info on PV water heating sounds nice, but what do you do with the additional energy once the geyser is at temperature... Maybe one could switch the panels over to either inverter or charging use? best Stephan
  18. Why Titanium elements and not just stick to the standard element? Can you guys point me to some of the options that use PV for geyser heating? best Stephan
  19. hi All, I live in a security complex and am investigating a UPS style inverter for our guard house... the Guard house has lights, an intercom and CCTV cams.. I will do some measurements but a 1kW should do the job just fine.. Do you guys have any suggestions ito brands and sourcing for this? best Stephan
  20. hi, I'm putting together a infini 3k+ system and would like to use the trojan t105 string - for now only 8 of them to get to 48V. Any suggestions where to source the t105's ? much appreciated Stephan
  21. Pls let me know where to get the T-105 as well thanks!
  22. hi Wetkit, I just want to make sure I am following everything (sortof): The above (4 circuits) are based on the the 2 Microcare inverters, right? So you have circuit 1 that is only connected to Eskom, and circuit 2 that is used as a UPS (to one of the Microcare inverters) How did you wire/control circuits 3 & 4? Naturally following this thread I realize you have now switched to the Infini 3kW unit, but I was still wondering how you controlled those circuits 3 & 4... best Stephan
  23. hi Everyone, I'm new here and been reading a lot.. I'm considering the Infini 3kW as well and want my setup to be a hybrid type of setup where 1. my PV charges the batteries and 2. when they are full, the PV is used to supplement my Load. 3. however as I have a prepaid meter, I don't want to be feeding back into the grid (Actaris ACE 9000 ITP) from this post and the other one in this section, it seems like the Infini can do 1 & 2... I'm just not sure about 3? Any comments welcome? best Stephan
