  1. I'm almost certain the current 8kw was derated by firmware as they were quick to upgrade the mppt to 22A. Would be keen to know the rating of the actual components used as I'm sure they are over spec for the inverter but not keen to open up my inverter to see the components. I'm almost certain it was based off the sol-ark 12k single phase inverter found in the states. Need a tear down of the inverter like Jerry rig everything videos.
  2. The manual doesn't indicate that but if you watch the video, Keith makes it clear that it's 12kw per phase and not using the normal definition where the output is spread across the 3 phases. Really keen to know what they will be going for here as it can run 3 unbalanced phases so you could use it in a single phase off grid house setup and split your loads across 3 phases. 1 phase for geyser, another for plugs and the third for lights, just as an example as the loads do not have to be balanced across the 3 phases. And if Keith is to believes, that's 12kw per phase so it's like having 3 x 12kw single phase inverters. Edit Another example would be 3 separate dwellings on a small holding and feeding each unit from one of the phases.
  3. From the latest video from sunsynk, Keith indicates that the 12kw 3 phase inverter is available in SA. I haven't found any pricing online yet so interested to know what the retail price will be. What's also interesting is that the MPPT has been increased to 1 000v and that its 12kw per phase so a total of 36kw.   4. It shouldn't as any excess pv not used for the battery charging would still go to the loads. It just prioritises pv to battery first and then loads. Other way is for it to send it to the loads first and then any excess goes to the battery.
  5. Another good free resource to use to determine your expected monthly pv generation is https://pvwatts.nrel.gov/ I use this website and know what I can expect to generate in each month.
  6. I feel your frustration. What I have found is that everyone will show you the best possible scenario when in fact you should be looking at your winter pv production and size your system from there. You'll be wasting in summer but at least you'll be covered in winter. On a clear summer day I can generate over 70kwh per day but a similar winter day at best I'll get is 25kWh.
  7. Looking at that you can have have up to 9 panels per string, 8 would be ideal. You have 2 x 5kw deye inverters so you have 4 MPPT inputs giving you a potential of 13kw in solar panels.
  8. It comes at a cost though. My carport is between 7 and 10 degrees. I could either pay for angled mounting racks and space them apart to avoid any shading from other panels or choose to install more panels than I need. I opted for the second as I have the space on my carport. It's a 4 car carport so there is a lot of space and I could probably install 20kw of solar panels there. This is a screenshot from Google earth with my initial panels. I added six more since this satellite pic was taken.
  9. Post results Discharge is always at the voltage from the battery and not the voltage to the loads. Same with charging.
  10. 60A at 48v is different to 60A at 220v. Battery charge and discharge amps are at 48v. 60% reduction in pv output is normal. There are a number of website that you can use to determine the pv output based on your location, array size, orientation and angle. You can use this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.exigo.solcaster Just enter your setup and it should give what the expected pv output is for the next few days.
  11. As mentioned. Your battery charge and discharge rates seem low. You need to configure this at the battery voltage of 48v and not the house voltage of 220v. Not sure if the BMS is communicating correctly with the inverter but if it is then these settings do not matter as the BMS will dictate the charge and discharge rates. At least that's what is happening with the pylontech and sunsynk combo.
  12. Pv generation in winter suffers a lot from low angled panels and I don't think the impact is explained enough. I knew beforehand going into my setup. On my setup I have 22 panels on MPPT 2 and 12 panels on MPPT 1. MPPT 2 installed capacity = 6 710w. Peak winter pv output = 2 670w. That's 60% loss in installed capacity. MPPT 1 installed capacity = 3 660w. Peak winter pv output = 1 470w. Also 60% loss. My panels are installed almost exactly the same on an IBR carport so expecting a 60% to 65% loss in pv production in winter is normal . Looking at some of the graphs it does not appear to be capping as it would have a flat top on the curves but they seem to be perfect bell curves similar to mine. Two pics. First one from a few days ago and second one from summer. My panels were less in summer but you can still see the difference between winter and summer.

  15. That actually looks better. Can you disable the user timer on system mode and send another pic of the system flow chart? Basically turning off using the battery and using the grid for both essential and non essential loads.
  16. I think that's old firmware. I have the 8kw sunsynk so not sure what the current firmware is for the 5kw sunsynk. @Leshenhas been extremely helpful in getting firmware updates as he has direct contact with sunsynk support.
  17. Looking at this again now and the numbers don't add up. Panels are providing 392w and 73w of this is going to the batteries leaving 319w for the load. The CT is reporting grid usage of 389w but is in fact providing 562w to the load. Most likely explanation is that the CT coil is installed at the incorrect location. Another possible solution is that the firmware needs to be updated. I recall seeing one instance on this forum where a firmware update fixed the CT coil readings. Can recall the post now.

  19. Ct is looking like it's connected correctly on the inverter. Maybe double check the wire it's clamped to. It should only be on the live wire coming out of your municipal meter going to your main DB. The other option is to buy another CT coil from AC/DC or ask your supplier to swap it out as the CT itself could be faulty.
  20. I still think there's an issue with the CT coil. It should be reading more power coming from the grid. Can you post a pic of the connection on the inverter? This is mine currently. Not using battery or solar and all loads supplied by the grid.
  21. It could also be connected at the incorrect points on the inverter. I know with my 8kw sunsynk inverter I had it initially at the incorrect ports on the inverter.
  22. Technically the flow chart should have 3 lines coming from the inverter. They just made it one. Grid which is bidirectional with the CT coil limiting any back feeding to the grid and also where the non essential loads are as indicated by the house icon. Ups is the essential loads supplied by solar or batteries and will be powered during grid failure. Aux is a configurable input or output depending on your settings. You can have it as a secondary output or use it as an input for a wind turbine, generator or micro inverter.
  23. Also sounds like your CT coil is installed incorrectly. If the ups loads are supplied from the grid, the CT coil should show this. This is a pic of mine from this morning.

    I think it would. The dongle is just pulling the data and uploading to a Web portal. Solarman is not the only dongle out there and it can be used on a number of different inverters and not made specifically for the sunsynk inverters. Even Solarman allows for remote setting changes but this needs to be enabled by sunsynk. Last I heard was that sunsynk only opens remote settings access for installers and not end users of Solarman.
