The different options generally are that batteries have different protocols or sets of commands they work with.

Is this so though? If one selects "Pylontech" battery settings you then get asked to nominate exactly which combination of Pylontech batteries you have. Surely all those different Pylontech models use the same protocols and command sets? Why would Pylontech make life difficult for everybody else by having a different command set for different models?

Self define is what Revov specify. The only options are to either buy their new model with CAN bus comms, or buy their RCU which seems to be 485->CAN converter. 

With the latter you switch to default lithium, but this has a hard coded capacity of 100ah, but the battery pack is 200ah. 

So question: does this difference in capacity cause problems?

That really is only important if your BMS is not working. On my inverter, if I tell it I have 1 or 2 or 3 pylontech batteries make no difference while the BMS connection to the inverter is working. When the BMS connection to the inverter is down, that setting is important failover I guess.

Hello, I just found this forum on photovoltaic energy and I found it very interesting, so I will try to explain a small problem, I apologize since English is not my language.

I have a totally DIY photovoltaic installation, it has 12 405W monocrystalline panels, a Goodwe 5048D-ES inverter, a DIY battery with 16S 280A LiFePO4 cells controlled by a 48V 150A Seplos BMS. The cells are protected by 100A fuse, the battery switch is a 2P DC 600V 100A MCB circuit breaker for PV systems (100A is the maximum charging and discharging current of the inverter). The BMS communicates via Pylontech protocol.
Monitoring is done through PV Master, which is very basic, or through the SEMS web portal, which is very slow.
My problem is that I have burned two MCBs, only the negative line (the fuse remains intact) and I would like to monitor the charge/discharge currents in shorter time intervals.

Ah. This is the matter we discussed earlier: As long as there is comms between BMS and inverter then the BMS runs the show.

Goodwe es &GCL battery Issue: once I log into pv master it allows to choose my battery which is the gcl 5.6kw ×1 option, once I choose it it shows successful but still does not update on the pv master app. It still reflects the goodwe battery as well it doesn't allow you to opt out of the battery in the list of battery, it's seems like it's automatically choosing the goodwe battery and can't be removed.
 
Secondly is the BMS issue. Battery communication failure.
 
Also when you guys try to remotely assit, that's when we loose wifi on inverter.
 
Also when we set the DoD for on grid and off grid it accepts instruction on pv master app but then defaults to 80%
