April 2, 20224 yr Hi, I would like to install some solar panels for my 24V system. 30 ~ 80 VDC. 40A. 1300W. Can anyone recommend best brands for solar panels. Also can anyone comment on their experience with mono vs poly. I have read conflicting reviews and was wondering if anyone had some experience.

Choose any class A panel. No need to even debate the merits of mono vs poly. A 200W mono or poly will provide 200W in power. I have mono and poly in series and no change from when I had the series string made up of mono only.
April 7, 20224 yr You basically want a brand of solar panel where you're confident that the company will still be around in 10, 15 or even 20 years' time when it comes to potential warranty claims. I saw this list of top panel manufacturers online: https://climatebiz.com/best-solar-panel-manufacturers/ Bear in mind that this is an American article, so not all of these brands are available locally. Also, LG has announced that it will stop making solar panels, although this article says they will still honour their warranties: https://www.solarreviews.com/blog/lg-announces-end-of-solar-panel-manufacturing
April 7, 20224 yr We as SAcans just like our brands. At times it takes long for great new names to get a foot in the door. Just look at our darling Canadian Solar and where they fit in on a global scale. Although also made in China I am sure there are good other brands from China. It just takes time to know which ones. If a great brand like LG stops making panels it just shows it's a tough job to compete on price.
