Moving to Solar - Which Hybrid Inverter?

Featured Replies

Good Day Everyone!

I know nothing about hybrid inverters, and are plunging into the deep end! I live in a Townhouse,  and at the moment I already have solar Geysers. I have LED's lights everywhere, gas Hob, etc. I am looking to buy a 5kVA hybrid inverter, (I already have 8 with deep cycle batteries), and add more Solar Panels over time. With a limited budget, I have the following options:

RCT-AXPERT 5K MK2
Open Range Solar Revo VM II 5.5Kva/5.5Kw Inverter
Growatt 5KW Solar Inverter (ES Model - 48V)
LuxPower Inverter 5kW - 2 x MPPT`s (SNA 5000 WPV)

Looking at my options above I am leaning towards the LuxPower as the price is favourable and the dual MPPT chargers seems like a good thing. From a pure performance aspect I reckon the Open Range 5.5kVA is better?

Kindly share some insight on the models above.

I don't rate a Luxpower or RCT as true hybrids that can operate as grid tied. The Luxpower does not have a CT input to prevent exporting although it can. The RCT is termed an off grid hybrid inverter.

My call would be to rather wait a while and up the budget to a Sunsynk/Deye 5kw pure for the functionality and buy once and get the core right. The other items like panels and batteries can be changed over time as needed.

Much Appreciated!

Only a pleasure. I've got the 8kw version and am very happy, no issues with my system since install.

The best thing I like about Sunsynk is that there is loads of training video's on Youtube by the manufacturer of how to use the device.

Scorp007 also suggested Sunsynk and Deye. I am torn between the affordability and implementation time. The Sunsynk is almost twice as expensive as the LuxPower I am currently thinking of. There are many threads on the forum that leads me to believe the LuxPower is a good product.

The implication of getting the Sunsynk/Deye would be to wait even longer for solar panels, Lithium batteries. My constrained Budget is a reality.

The luxpowertec Is good, it may not be a BMW 3 series but is is a corolla. It doesn't have leather seats but you can't afford those.

Bringing it back to solar. You have no loads before the inverter as you have a solar Geyer and a gas stove.

You will have to convince yourself the rest of the the way or come up with funds for the sunsynk.

From my very limited googling for the LuxPower Hybrid Inverter, I come up with the cost of R19k as per below

https://sp-energy.co.za/product/luxpower-5kw-hybrid-inverter-lxp5k/

While the Sunsynk is at R22k

https://www.solarwaysuppliers.co.za/product/sunsynk-5kw-hybrid-inverter/

The difference to me doesn't seem that large (about one solar panel)? Unless you are referring to the LuxPower offgrid inverter?

Which comes in at R11k?

For me although I've had some teething problems for a hybrid I am generally pleased with my Sunsynk.

That's a Sol ark or Deye in certain territories.

Views will vary and Deye who manufacture them leave regional licences to promote and support the product.

As with all some are good at ther jobs others are dreadful.

The good news is there is lots of knowledge and friendly helpful people here whatever you choose.

My last thought is if your not experienced with electricity read a lot and get help if required.
