May 26, 20224 yr Hi everyone, I woke up this morning and found that one of the 2 inverter's data logger is blinking green while the other one is blinking blue. Please also note that nothing has been changed in terms of configurations. To find the root cause of the issues, I have done the following steps: Removed the logger from the mobile app (Shinephone) Reset the data logger but could not connect using the standard mode while noting that the first time it was installed I used the standard mode. Tried the hotspot mode after clicking on the "key" button with a short press and was able to connect to it but the light is still blinking green. I Tried also resetting my internet router but this didn't work as well. It is very confusing because one data logger is working fine while the other is blinking green. Is there a problem with Growatt's server?
June 1, 20224 yr Author Seems like no one's interested to help. In all cases, I resolved my issues. Contacted support in China, they sent some steps which were already executed before and nothing helped. For some reason I was unable to access 192.168.10.100 even after resetting the device (held the key for 6 seconds and got the 3 colors blinking) and accessing it through hotspot (steady blue light). Then I was able to add the device to my datalogger list but was unable to connect to server.growatt.com (showed as offline on the shinephone app). What caught my attention at this point is that after resetting the datalogger, it's name was always being set to "Left Wifi" which is a name that I gave the first time I had installed it. This is weird because it shouldn't be that way as I had reset it to factory settings and the normal behavior was to see the device's name with it's serial number instead of "left wifi". When accessing the device through hotspot in the ShinePhone app again, I noticed that there is a place to enter "advanced settings" just before setting my internet connection's wifi and password. The advanced settings require a password which I got to discover that it's "growatt+date" (date is: yearmonthday, i.e. growatt20220531). I did not change anything in the settings, I only saved and the datalogger was recognized like last time but this time it was able to connect to growatt's server.

My growatt datalogger seems corrupted and I am about to give up. I signed onto the PC App and everything seemed to work normally. Then a message popped up about an update for the Datalogger which I applied. Then their servers went down a couple of days ago and the local Growatt Rep reckons they should be back up in a couple of days. So now they seem to be functioning normal again but my Datalogger cannot verify anymore. i,e, It shows as the Datalogger both on the Shinefone and the online URL. But it's status shows as lost I have reset the logger numerous times over the last three days, yet it continues to fail with "incorrect Verification Code" It creates the Hotspot, it then connects to my local Network, but when trying to add it to the Plant, the Barcode scan won't recognise it. I then enter the SN and CC manually and get no further . Trying to upgrade it is also not possible as it is reported as lost. Anyone know how to reset it so the CC code is linked to the SN again? Good thing I have Solar Assistant to monitor my system. I have lost a weeks data already on the Growatt Logger. Edited June 16, 20224 yr by zsde
June 23, 20224 yr Author Hey zsde, This doesn't look good. Anyways, i think the growatt wifi is terrible as mine keeps on disconnecting from time to time on its own and I keep on repeating the process to activate it again. I your case, i did not face "datalog currently lost", i think the best thing to do here is to take it to your provider. When I took mine to the shop, the technician opened it and removed its internal battery for a hard reset. This ddnt really resolve my problem when i got it back as i had to reset it multiple time before it was working. I was also informed that accessories are not covered in the warranty. Good luck.
June 29, 20224 yr Hi elihelou Thanks for posting the original question. I had the same issue on both my SPF 5000 inverters where the WiFi dongle was flashing green. I believe this is a connectivity issue with the ShineServer. Also not the first time it happened. Previous time my technician rebooted the complete system. This time I just removed the WiFi dongles and reinserted them after about 1 minute and the connection restored (Blue flashing light). Its quite frustrating as the stats gets lost and especially during load shedding, I cannot see the state of battery and usage. Anyway, you gave me some pointers to look for.

Hi zsde Yip, I had the same issue some time back when I tried to do an upgrade on the Datalogger. Upgrade failed and Datalogger showed only a red solid light and in the app it show's Lost. Fortunately my installer had a spare datalogger which he replaced. Never again will I do an upgrade I lost a couple of days data. I am contemplation on getting Solar assistant and dumping the Shineserver monitoring

Amos in China asked me to send him screenshots and videos of the problem. All this I had done before. But I went through the whole process again. This was three days ago. So I just left it with the solid green light on. That evening I decided to give it another go but before I did I actually had deleted the Datalogger both on the server side via the PC software and also on my phone. When I got to the Garage I saw the blue flashing light which means it's working and transmitting data. Lo and behold I open the phone app and it's working. No sign in required no datalogger verification needed. Checked the PC server website and everything working too. So what did they do and how did my logger reactivate as if by magic? That was my question to Growatt. Their answer "It may be caused by our server. You can observe it" - Whatever that means. This was from the email I received this morning. Let me go back a week or so. I specifically asked them if the verification with the CC code is done within the datalogger or whether it's done at server level. Their answer was it's done in the Datalogger which would make sense because it hasn't connected to the server before validation. However with this "magic" fix that happened all by itself I am starting to think it was corruption on their servers all along and that there may be a two level validation process. Be that as it may, it is back in operation with a two week gap now in the historic data. At least I have the Solar Assistant data. Edited June 29, 20224 yr by zsde
June 3, 20233 yr Hi all, ja data logger issues as well, on my home site, I had inverter issue and they had to replace the mother board, data logger since then been flashing green, and refuses to reset, just goes back to green even after factory reset, and after it goes through white lights then red flashes where hotspot comes up for 10 sec , not able to connect, then disappears. I suspect dongle faulty as well, will order new. At work, dongle I got never worked, gonna get one there as well. Does anyone know how to change the user permissions, so that one can make changes through the app, it keeps telling me "user not authorised"
August 16, 20241 yr I have the same problem, or not... I cant configure the datalogger more then step 3, dont connect to internet. My problem was the internet router, i change it with a new one, i must reuse the old one in parallel with the new one (mesh) connection. I add the logger from the WEB page not with app, and after few seconds apear in app to. I connect the old internet repeater and press the doggler key one time. After i repeat in app the stept for doggler connection with the same problem, i connect to doggler hospot and go to settings and put the old wifi repeater and the password. After the apply and reset my doggler connect to the internet normally like in past. 2 days i must to search on internet and make all steps (doggler batery remove, etc) Sorry for my English

March 24, 20251 yr If anyone still cares about the Shine-Wifi-F dongles, and would like to use them for complete local control of their inverters using Home Assistant, I wrote up how to reprogram them with ESPHome here: https://powerforum.co.za/topic/32073-growatt-shinewifi-f-reflashed-with-esphome/
