Even when the grid was down? During loadshedding?

Hi ... I manage my loads.  When the grid is down, I make sure that there are no heavy loads or that the loads are less than the PV production.  Fortunately there were no clouds during this period that dropped PV production to less than demand or else the inverter would have cut out.  Was a stressful period without the battery, but the system works.

  • Power blending of the OGS5.6 in action.

  • That high load from 12:00 until 13:30 was a 3.3kW geyser. The OGS5.6 grabbed 2kW from Solar & grabbed the other 1.3kW from the Lithium Battery. Then thereafter, charged the battery with the Solar.

  • I think there is a setting for the astute for default state after power loss. Perhaps the power loss during switchover triggered that.

I have also written two "if this then that" applets that switches the geyser off as soon as it reaches its full temp (when the thermostat kicks in).  At this point the geyser automatically switches off ... without having to come off and on until the timer kicks in.

This is interesting! I was under the impression the SunSynk couldn't do this. I'm happy with my choice to go Kodak but my choice was primarily driven by the fact that I believed SunSynk couldn't do it. This is my plan - to run batteryless - shift loads around.

Cool, what platform/software set up are you running? "Applet" - sounds like old school java

Hi ... I just did two applets in the CBI app.  The first applet starts the monitoring a minute after the switch turns on.  The second applet runs once the minute from the first applet is up.  If the power is less say 100w, then turn the switch off.

Adding for posterity

The kodak and other axperts can switch to bypass mode when you exceed the inverter output

ie you pull more than The inverter can handle and if bypass on overload is enabled then the axperts switches all the load to eskom and pv is relegated to charging batteries only

When the load drops it switches back to battery mode

If however you exceed the limit and load shedding kicks in then the load goes back to inverter and promptly trips the inverter

If you have restart on overload enabled the inverter will restart and power the load if you have switched of enough devices to be under the inverter output
