JayN got a reaction from JacoG in Why do my down lights flicker when Eskom is off.
    Hi @JacoG
The lower speed on the fan is due to the drop in voltage.  I am supplied by Eskom.  The grid voltage ranges from 240v up to 248v at times.  My inverter was set at 220v.
When the grid goes down (load shedding), the voltage drops to 220v.  The power output (watts) given the same amps is about 10% less than when the grid is present.  The result is that motors slow down.  Geysers take longer to heat etc..
I have since set my inverter on 230v.
I also have a set of downlighters that flicker, but I think that has more to do with the dimmer switch.

I'm using a Hubble AM2 and have had trouble with my unit.  It started troubling after 6 months and eventually after much troubleshooting the firmware needed an update.
Whilst I know many guys that are more than happy with Hubble, and some that swear by it, I definitely cannot recommend it if it goes wonky requiring a firmware update.  Nothing else changed.

They won't unless you tell them.
Reading the data is not visible to them. They wish the users not to have access the real time data it seems. Only someone trying to hide something would go to such measures. So much for transparency.
As a responsible enterprise one would welcome user feedback on the performance of one's product, unless of course you know your product is flawed and the failure needs to be blamed on the paying customer.

I see that I'm not the only one that battled with the pairing.
Press the button on the device so that the geyser is on.  The light starts to flash.  Then press and hold the button for 5-10 seconds.  That should take you to paring mode.

This is just too much trouble ... and you have to outlay another R2-3K for the riot box.  Might as well go with another battery brand.  Hubbles are just too much trouble.
I had to buy a cable to confirm it was not the software.  Then I had to have the battery removed and waited a month for the repair.
At the moment the other manufacturers seem like a better deal considering the price point of Hubble.

Cool ... Cudub have just come back and added more panels for me.  I now have 19 x 545w panels - three strings, two of which are in parallel.  Roof space was an issue, although in hindsight I could have squeezed in 3 more panels.  I have more solar power than I need.  Hoping to upgrade my batteries next year.  I now draw only 10kwh per day from the grid on average - total daily consumption is around 35kwh.
I added the panels before the batteries, because I have a Hubble and I want to change that to something else.
Also added a few aircons at home ... and now day time cooling and geyser heating is through solar.

I finally managed to get my battery to the service centre, and low and behold they have confirmed that one of the cells is faulty resulting in my 50% battery capacity.
The software update did not help me.
Next step is that they have to send it down to CPT to have the cells removed and rewelded.  Hoping to have the battery back next week.

    @HubbleLithium
So ... after 3/4 months of trouble shooting and blaming it on a firmware update, I have confirmed that my Hubble AM-2 has failed.
On normal use, about a single cycle per day, my battery lost half its capacity in March 2022 (installation was end of Sept 2021).  Battery never went below 20% and was charged to 100% at least once a day - one of the timed slots at night on my Sunsynk.
It needs to be removed and sent into their service centre.  Hubble does not carry the cost of the failure in terms of removal and reinstallation.  They will only look at the device at their premises and getting it to them is, according them, my issue.
If one applies this logic, in the long term the Hubbles are more cost than they are worth.  I am super disappointed after initially being a big Hubble fan and supporter.
It was great while it lasted.  I'll get this battery repaired / replaced under warranty and will probably look to make a change going forward.

JayN got a reaction from BryanOC6 in 12 kW 3 Phase System Installed - Experience so Far
So, I bit the bullet and had the Synsunk 12 kW 3 Phase system installed.
    I put in the following:
Sunsynk 12kw 3 Phase inverter 1 x Hubble AM2 8 x 540w JA Solar Panels I connected all three phases of the board to the inverter, i.e. everything on the UPS side.
I've set the unit so that:
I'm off grid power from around 9.00 am to around 7.00 pm every day (some days a bit longer) I preserve a nominal battery charge from 07.00 pm to 11.00 pm in case the power goes out - if I don't do that I can go until 08.00 pm being off grid and deplete the battery to 25%. I charge the batter to around 75% (from 50%) which sees me through to 04.00 am At 04.30 pm the geysers kick in and its all on grid (geyser is on for about an hour) Second geyser kicks in 08.00 am to 08.30 am all on grid Really good results so far.  The loads are managed via smart timers.  Still getting the timings right to use everything we produce and take care of the low production days as well.
During the day I have to dump excess power into the geysers for limited period of time.
Pool pump is on from 10.00 am to 04.00 pm - all from solar.
I do get a battery comm fault every now and then, especially when a geyser kicks in and the battery is at 25% already.  Fault is only at this time, clears and carries on.
Essentially, the morning and evening geysers, and the power requirements between 07.00 pm and 11.00 pm and the battery charge at 11.00 pm are from the grid.
My on grid consumption has dropped by 60-65% on average.
Next upgrade would be 1 x Hubble AM2 and 8 x 540 w panels.  That is still not enough for the morning and afternoon peak.
Apart from the random BMS battery fault, everything is working well.

I've had my firmware updated and the the battery now refuses to go below 52% SOC.  This was the original issue, then it suddenly dropped to 0% and was erratic.  I basically have about 40% capacity in the battery after 7 months.
@HubbleLithiumPlease can you comment, as your batteries are failing left right and centre.

    Hi Gerrie,
I have the 12kw 3 Phase Sunsynk installed.  It can do 6 kw on a phase but is limited to 12 Kw in total.
Before I re-balanced the phases, I happily did 6 kw on a single phase and 3-4 kw on the second phase and a bit on the third phase.  I have since rebalanced the load and each phase rarely will go past 5 kW.
Happy to answer any questions you may have.

    Hi,
I think Chris and I used the same installer.
Try to separate the geyser and stove on two separate phases then you don't have to worry about it.
I didn't downgrade my elements.  I have 1 x 4kw, 1 x3kw on different phases.  I have a gas stove, which is way cheaper to run than electrical stove.  We cook everyday and a 9 kg lasts three and a half months.
I put the geysers on an astute CBI timer so I can control it remotely if necessary. I found the sweet spot for timing.
Better to go for an extra battery.  I have 8 panels (540w) and one battery. Could just about use another battery if I had 2 more panels. Having more panels without a battery will not help me. Battery before the next panels go up.
    Hope this helps.
