November 1, 20223 yr Hi all. My batteries never drain below 35%. My setting in the inverter is 20%, but it never gets there. Should I force full draining now and then to increase life/performance? Thanks Edited November 1, 20223 yr by The Eagle
November 1, 20223 yr I assume this is lithium. No, if you only use them down to 35% then that is better than draining them to 20%. You should get more cycles with the 35% compared to lower discharges. The only thing about lithium is they do not like to be kept at 100%, some people charge them to 100% and only use them for the day that there is a power failure. Fortunately in SA that is at least daily so at least eskom is ensuring the batteries get cycled regularly.
November 1, 20223 yr There is no reason to cycle further down if not needed, that will not damage the battery at all (Assuming it is a lithium battery) The more important thing is to charge it up correctly to allow the top end to keep nicely in balance. You battery should stay nice and healthy for many years if you use it at the rate you are currently using it
