January 10, 20233 yr Depends on the inverter you use... I have seen inverters that only utilize CAN or RS485 but others that can use both. Would you mind clarifying which inverter and battery you are using so I can hopefully offer accurate advice?
January 10, 20233 yr Author Luxpower SNA5000 and Bluenova BN53 batteries, what I understand from the manuals both can do both, so not sure if I should connect both or just use CAN or RS485

January 13, 20233 yr Ok, so it looks like the BlueNova would prefer the use of CAN communication protocols: However, you can wire both the RS485 and CAN cables since the inverter have both spread over a different pins: On the brighter side, BlueNova seems to provide all the relevant charging parameters as shown on page 4 of the manual. And the Luxpower manual shows these can all be configured via the relevant software, see page 20 of the manual:
