Psy reacted to mzezman in Deye CRC ErrorsMight be something with the splitter - what happens if you take the splitter out of the equation and connect SA to the inverter?

You could also reserve the IP for a specific mac address for both your HA and SA on your router?

So, last night there was a software update. Whilst the software version field was still not showing, below that the normal text showing that an update was available was showing.
I did the download and the system restarted. The bug has been fixed and the software version field is now showing again.

Psy got a reaction from Energy-Jason in Solar Assistant latest beta update - Software version field not showingHey, I've spoken to the SolarAssistant Devs and this is a bug they are aware of with the latest Beta. Another beta will be be published to address this along with a couple other small issues with the latest beta so just keep up to date and this should be fixed soon, luckily it's just a visual glitch and does not effect your ability to update once the new version is available.

Psy reacted to PsyWulf in Solar Assistant - Not working and No support?Between the 8 inverters i've used the Data has been spot-on with what other tools such as WatchPower,MultiSIBTools and the requisite dongles/software have produced. I've also used cables from Takealot, included with the inverters and some from Solarassistant's store (for the less generic stuff)
This seems to fall under the "Your Inverter might not present accurate data"
The one time I got junk values I had selected the wrong Inverter model and the readings were apeshit

Psy reacted to zsde in Solar Assistant - Not working and No support? That is the case. They may consider one hardware change but that as far as I know means you have to request a new file download for the new Pi.
I have had zero issues with mine and have always had good support.

If memory serves, then SA is node locked on hardware. So if you successfully configured your access from one pi, you cannot access the same licence from other pi.
Contact Pierre on SA website.

Psy got a reaction from zsde in The Right To RepairWell that is exactly my thinking on the subject... How dare you try dictate what I do with my own products xD
There was a huge case in the unit with mono-wheelers, if you so much at remove the battery without the right software key the unit becomes completely bricked. The company is determined that they are doing this to protect people but all it does is make it impossible to service without going to the manufacturer. This kinda ish makes my blood boil and now friends are struggling to make ends meet with how expensive original parts are/having to turn customers away since the unit is unserviceable.

Psy got a reaction from WannabeSolarSparky in Installers Cape TownHey @Marcelle, welcome to the forum! Sadly, I do not have someone that side that I can recommend but I do have a little advice from some of my most painful experiences...
Finding an installer like this will be hard but the harder part is finding a supplier with good after-sales support, an installer will do what they can but once actual issues appear they'll usually fall back on the suppliers post-sales support. Most installers will just call the supplier if there are issues for a quick and easy answer and when people get annoyed with installers is usually when the installer cannot get help or info from the supplier. Getting a good installer is still very important, but making sure you buy from the right suppliers is a close second priority.

Psy got a reaction from Antonio de Sa in Battery and inverter brand reputationsI work on Axperts, pretty much any Voltronic inverter, and honestly the repairs would be quick. When I have the spares, I can get an inverter repaired and back to you in like a day maybe 3 max. However, dues to a variety of shipping issues and problems at the port I have had inverters sit for over a month waiting for specific spares. I assume the Sunsynk 3 week period is just the periodicity of their spares shipments or they have massive backlog. Most inverter repairs should be pretty quick, if the damage is too extensive and will take days worth of soldering and fiddling to fix you just change out the entire board. I know a lot of guys that do that instead, take a little off the price of the replacement board (depending on how damaged it is) and replace the board to get the repair done asap. Then, repair the damaged board in spare time to use later on. Not my jam, but that happens a lot with Axpert repairs.

Psy got a reaction from hoohloc in No more solar PV on asbestos roofsLike I get where they are coming from, but how about outlawing asbestos roofing like the rest of the world instead of taking away their ability to get solar? This ish is outlawed around the world, but we're ok with it as long as you don't put a solar panel on it 🤣

Psy got a reaction from Stan.small in Infinisolar Inverter and US3000C batteries slow BMS communicationSadly I do not, there isn't an email line that's open. You will have to talk to the place of purchase and there will be a line of contact from them up. I know its really frustrating to hear but go through the process and it usually leads somewhere

Psy reacted to Paulcupine in Difference between inverter reading (energy purchased) and municipal readingYour inverter is not a calibrated device, so apart from losses you will also have measurement inaccuracies. Depending on the measurement mechanism, the inaccuracy is also likely different at different loads.
-
Psy reacted to PsyWulf in Difference between inverter reading (energy purchased) and municipal readingThere are some losses and inefficiencies in many inverters,a little over 10% doesn't look farfetched based on experience

Psy got a reaction from Stan.small in Infinisolar Inverter and US3000C batteries slow BMS communicationOk, so there is a chance this is an odd software thing... but you would need someone a little more adept with the software, like @Coulomb, to confirm since I am a little more of a hardware person. However, that does sound a little long considering there's a cable connecting the two. I see you already flashed with firmware 2.1, it may be worth asking the people you purchased it from to ask the supplier about it? When I run into this kind of stuff I usually ask Voltronic to review and either advise or provide me with a firmware patch...

Hi Psy
So I've got 2 Infinisolar inverters, one running with Dyness Batteries the other with Pylontech.
The information on the Dyness inverter updates almost instantly.
The inverter connected to the Pylontech however is slow takes about a minute to update, even when starting up the inverter input and output values take about a minute to show.
I have swapped around the inverters and the values are still laggy

Psy reacted to Kalahari Meerkat in Would this backup power design work?nope, since the inverter is running off the battery and its charger, once the charger disappears (Eksdom soiling its shorts), the voltage from the battery will start sagging some, but there should be 0 interruption, since the inverter did not get disconnected from its power source

Psy got a reaction from Stan.small in Infinisolar Inverter and US3000C batteries slow BMS communicationHey Stan, welcome to the forum!
Yeah that sounds a little annoying, sorry to hear it, but communication taking it's time to update doesn't sound too far outside of the expected. I have seen units take like a minute to update the app, the information on the inverter should be a lot faster than that.. When you say slow to update, what are you considering slow?

Psy got a reaction from zsde in Why would a UPS blow LED floodlights? So, just updating this thread in case some runs into something similar...
So it looks like it has to do with the way the inverter generates it's waveform. So looks like this unit is "simulated" sine wave, so not pure and found out the hard way. With the way the modified waveform, it picks up like 40% or more harmonics on the 3rd and 17% on the 7th. This combined with a light that doesn't have a power supply or transformer in it leads to instant burning...
So when it comes to you lights, you can connect lights to a pure sine wave but connecting an LED light to a modified sine wave can end badly. It's not like every LED light on earth will pop on modified, but a lot of them don't have the power supply needed to handle being connected to modified sine waves.

Psy reacted to mzezman in Back up solution in a complex - no solar possibleNews spreads SO FAST in a complex..hahah. Put in a solar system for MIL and for days after people were talking and looking etc - yet the unit next to hers got solar years ago and no one batted an eyelid
-
Psy reacted to Bobster. in Back up solution in a complex - no solar possibleI agree with @Psy, save that I think that Gel batteries are false economy right now. They will have a short life span under continual (and seemingly endless) Stage 6. Lithium will cost more, but you will get more out of it.
Notice too his question about what you want to back up. This goes to the splitting of your DB into essential (backed up) and non-essential loads. Factor in the cost of that and also surge protection and extra breakers.
Unless it's a small number of devices in a small, manageable area, then get a decent (pure sine) trolley inverter, pay extra for lithium cells, and run some extension leads.
Do the modelling he suggests and work out WHAT you need backed up. That's a key factor in sizing the solution appropriately.
If you're worried about complex management, act on the assumption that they will find out that you've done something. I put a trolley inverter in my mother's unit. The next morning there were knocks on her door. People had seen the flicker of a TV from her unit and wanted to know what was going on. Nothing malicious about it, just curiosity, but the news will spread.

Psy got a reaction from Bobster. in Back up solution in a complex - no solar possibleYeah, as @mzezmansaid you could probably get something like a 3kW Axpert pretty cheap... the real question here is what you want to run etc.
So, if you're running a load of like 1-2kW then a 3kW Axpert will do the job and be more affordable than a Sunsynk. However, if you are dealing with 5kW or more of load then you may have to look into big units that get expensive anyway. I have checked and my TV, lights, internet and Android box use a total of like 500/600W so have those running through a small 1,6kW inverter and 2 gels batteries that cost like 7K for both the inverter and batteries. I have a gas plate and my geyser is large for 2 people so that stays warm enough to carry on with my life...
If you are looking for cheap you will find cheap, you should be looking more for a solution that will fit your needs and then look for the cheapest option👍

Psy reacted to mzezman in Back up solution in a complex - no solar possibleIf only for backup then you don't need to pay an arm and a leg. Look at the Axpert / Voltronic based systems as well as Luxpower SNA
