November 30, 20223 yr No more solar PV on asbestos roofs, says labour department - Moneyweb And in one fell swoop, a million homes in SA can't get solar. Probably the right call health-wise. I have to wonder, though, if it will put a real dent in demand.
November 30, 20223 yr Like I get where they are coming from, but how about outlawing asbestos roofing like the rest of the world instead of taking away their ability to get solar? This ish is outlawed around the world, but we're ok with it as long as you don't put a solar panel on it 🤣
January 27, 20233 yr How is this working in the real world? I had to replace a leaking asbestos roof last year on a building and it was a lot of hoops for very little material benefit to the layman. it is horrendously expensive, when the roof may still be in good condition and "inert" as the experts told me. Â The inspector indicated that it would be safe enough to work on a roof/add panels if you had an additional plan in place to satisfy the paperwork. Â
February 16, 20233 yr Does this apply to asbestos slate tile roofing as well? Probably. So what are my alternatives?

April 21, 20242 yr Many contractors are still installing on asbestos and getting legitimate SSEG registrations. They say that if you use existing holes in the roof it is allowed but others say absolutely not. What's going on?!
