  1. If you know a sparky, get him to go over the design and installation plan with you, I did that and it helped a lot, I was missing a few things (yep the isolator / fuse between inverter and battery) and he highlighted it and made a few recommendations as to the MCB's and priority loads, once I done all the trunking and cables, I got him to do the connection to the mains, he happily issued COC based on his involvement.
  2. Depends where you live, I am about 80km's from Cape Town, I went to ACDC Express, walked in and walked out, especially the one in Paarden Eiland, very knowdledgable and very helpful
  3. We live in Riebeek Kasteel: 2 Tv's, 2 9000btu aircons, 1 firdge freezer, 1 freezer, 1 bar fridge, wifi ( 4 AC Deco mesh point, SDWAN switch and Router and Fibre OTN), Asustor NAS device, I run 2 32 inch monitors on my desk, and then add the normal lights etc: My setup Luxpower SNA 5kw and BlueNova BN52 battery: When working from home I make it through loadshedding using a portable aircon (power hungry beast) and my laptop with the 2 32 inch monitors and all the arbitrary network and storage infrastructure that goes with it. 2 hour loadshed we do not even blink for them stove and Oven is gas, and Geyser is separate Solar. Here is a view of the battery on a 2 hour Loadshed, this is from 18:00 to 20:00, 2 tv's, xbox, and some lights, think the microwave was used somewhere as well:
  4. Link to manual, it appears it can run on genie, without batteries: https://luxpowertek.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/SNA5000WPV-UM-210604.pdf
  5. Have not used it with a generator yet, it has settings for generator and connection points, not sure how it will work without batteries:
  6. This is the orientation of our house, I have a luxpower SNA5000 with 2 mptt's, I am thinking 4 panels on 1 mptt on the east side of the house and 4 panels on the west side on the other mptt. Opinions, thoughts and suggestions welcomed.
  7. I know it is a bit late, the SNA5000 Off grid has got 2 fans, that can be perceived as noisyy, we live in Riebeek Kasteel, temperatures hit 30 - 40 degrees easily, the inverter is installed in our scullery, you can hear the fans when in the scullery, they not obtrusive, mainly perceived as white noise, will see if I can put Db meter next to it. Also you can adjust the fan speeds.
  8. Do you have access to the inverter's webpage? that you can do a screenshot of the settings
  9. Been running on the Luxpower 5000 SNA and a Nova BN52 since the 10th, here are some thoughts, Yes the fan on it is a bit noisy, we got the inverter in the scullery, you aware of it when you in the scullery, otherwise you do not hear it, rather let me say it is not intrusive noise. I had a huge amount of trouble getting the inverter and battery comms going, there is no consistent guide, inverter should be pin 4 and 5 and battery 7 and 8, or vice versa or 4,5 on both side, it was just insane, I absolutely could not get a consistent communication between the LX and the BN, then I chatted to BlueNova, very very helpful, full kudo's to them, and they said, you need our BMAC module, after installing the bmac and using the supplied cables, we are sweet with the communication, what is cool about the BMAC, it gives you a lot of insight into the battery, more than the inverter supply The LX5000 setup is a bit weird, you can do it via the control panel on the inverter, it is a bit cumbersome and need some getting used to, you can do it via the web interface, what I found with the web interface, some of the settings are missing, eg. changing the battery type, fan's speed. you can also make changes via the mobile app, this has got more setting than the web interface, but still short some of the fine tune battery error code 3: I found you get this error during setup if you are trying to set parameters out of bounds, it has got some sanity check, eg you cannot set the ac charge to 100 and have the charge current set to 50amp.
  10. I was given Grace01 as a generic customer code recently by luxpowertek to use, till distributor can supply me one
  11. Look at this yourube video, I think they do a 3 phase in it: Also you can check the battery compatibility list: https://www.solarpanelenergy.co.za/docs/Luxpower Compatible Battery List 20211019.pdf
  12. Luxpower SNA5000 and Bluenova BN53 batteries, what I understand from the manuals both can do both, so not sure if I should connect both or just use CAN or RS485
  13. Do you need to use both CAN and RS485 or can you just use one?
  14. Can we maybe start a thread about legit online dealers, something like: http://www.powerforum-store.co.za Service: (5 being good, 1being bad) Products: Pricing: Courier Available Yes / No Payment Method EFT/ Credit Card/ Ozow Finance Options: Yes / No
