Posted January 13, 20232 yr Questions re wiring from Eskom main DB to and from an 8kw Sunsynk inverter back to essential loads. 1.) Is 6mm2 wire sufficient? 2.) Can I run the to and from wires in the same 20mm conduit or must they be separate? My inverter will be approx. 8m from the Main DB.
January 13, 20232 yr On the 8kw Sunsynk I will not go any thinner than 10mm. Remember that your inverter has a pass through current of 90Amp. You can use the same conduit if all the wires fit.

You can use the same conduit if all the wires fit. Mains to inverter protected by 63Amp MCB and inverter to essentials protected by another MCB will surely never allow 90Amp in the system. I think the 90Amp refers to rating of the internal relays in the inverter and is never intended to be utilised. In fact Sunsynk themselves talk about using 60Amp MCB. That being the case, am I correct that 6mm2 will be sufficient?
January 13, 20232 yr Author @liceman Those diameters on that chart look wrong unless they include the insulation! Or am I wrong using piRsquared as a formula for the diameter? I do see it says overall diameter but I am just making sure.🙂 Edited January 13, 20232 yr by Thunderdolt
