PylonTech US3000C Battery Produces No Output , Accepts No Charge

For the US2000C or US3000C the FW V1.9 would be pretty ancient, but these are US5000. And US5000 have their own FW numbering.

- US5000 V1.3 is the latest that I have

- Around 2023 there were US5000 V1.4 and V1.7 released

Therefore US5000 V1.9 must be pretty new. Which may explain, why it asks for 0x305 now. Oh, I love Pylontech so much! Their documentation and support is awesome. (ironic smiley)

That's interesting. I was looking up about the cell voltage coms and it seems victron are developing new firmware to limit charge voltages because of cell overvoltages.

  • This is spot on! The module experienced a high voltage as it reached 100%. Looks like the MPPT charge controller did not manage to drop the voltage to the pack and this more than likely popped the fus

  • Hi @BritishRacingGreen 1) First of all - if the US3000C is running and the RUN led is slowly blinking, then the battery should be supplying 48V to the output terminals. There's no need to connect

Ok thanks I was about to plug batteryview.

EDIT : are you sure ? the latest firmware on Youda's page about updates is 1.3 for US5000

Oh how they make it complicated. Personally, if pylontech have introduced this, I think its probably a good thing as, for the majority of cases it will ensure the bms is in control. It's not hard to get round though. :)

Users like me like to be told about such an important FW modification, IF ANY (I'm a doubting guy, always keep in mind that I'm not omniscient), before buying.

Nothing about that in the manual, unless I misread something ?

It's amazing how many companies don't even publish an update log. It may be possible to go back to an earlier firmware but they may also have prohibited that as well.

I can see why they would introduce it to protect their products. They would probably say it's not that major as it wouldn't change anything that isn't already in their warranty terms.

Does anybody on this forum have some US5000 with firmware 1.9 inside ? If so, would you please try to discharge the batteries without any CAN device attached ?

When I've been contacting Pylontech I've also asked them if they have done this and both times they haven't replied to that question but have to the others. ๐Ÿ˜’

Thanks Tinbum

After insisting a lot, I got this message

Hi๏ผŒ
ย
Our US5000 battery can only be recognized by the inverter when there is communication.
It cannot be used in mobile scenarios and needs to be installed in a fixed environment.
ย
If DC-DC charging is used without communication, the battery BMS will not work. If the battery is damaged, it will not be covered by the warranty.
ย
ย
ย
So if one has a US5000 working without canbus, do NOT upgrade the firmware because you will lose this functionnality !

That doesn't really say a lot- not really an answer. The "battery BMS will not work" could mean it doesn't work as intended as it can't control the voltage, current settings etc coming in to the pack.

I'm just really surprised your the first to find this and its not been reported by others so far..

I wish I was not this first one. The "If DC-DC charging is used without communication, the battery BMS will not work" words, when I read them again, look sadly like they 100% explain what happens to me.

ย

The question becomes : can I safely downgrade and if so, what is the last "no canbus mandatory" version.

Hi. I have the same problem with Pylontech US 5000. Thank you for the clear explanation and solution to this issue.
