February 27, 20233 yr Please help required. I purchased x2 Champion 200Ah LifePo4 batteries. I used one so far. The same as this one but 200Ah: https://onlineshop.gcsolar.co.za/product/champion-12-8v-100ah-lithium/ The power did not return after a load-shed; the battery reached low discharge; evidently shut itself off and now the voltage reads 7.85V. It takes no charge. Sources online claim this is merely the battery going into "sleep mode" after an auto shut down when it reached low voltage. 1. Is this true? 2. How do I "wake" it? I charged the other battery and then tried connecting it in parallel with jumper cables but no luck. It does not take any charge and it still reads 7.85V. The set-up is in conjunction with the necessary fuses and an inverter/charger: Victron Multiplus 12/1600/70. Until this little setback the system worked beyond expectation (I tested it and it could run - and start - x2 fridges and x2 fans simultaneously).
February 27, 20233 yr hmm 7.85V is terribly low . It most likely damaged the cells or reduced the capacity at least,they should absolutely never go under 2,5V a cell (10V for the pack). Makes me wonder why the BMS would allow it to go that low . Your best bet would be a bench type power supply and to try and charge them with a really small current maybe half an amp or less @ 14v till the voltage picks up. The slower you do this the better.
February 28, 20233 yr Author Thankyou for the info but, well that is beyond my capabilities here at home. I have another one (Champion lifepo4 200ah) but now I am scared to use it. So I ordered two Victron Battery Protect units that do auto cut-out at a pre-set low voltage. February 28, 20233 yr Just hook it up to an automotive (or other fairly dumb) battery charger, and it will wake up again. Then adjust your inverter's low battery cut off to be above the battery BMS cut-off (10.8V) to stop this from happening again.
