Does solar assistant allow automation changes from Home Assistant?

Featured Replies

Have a smallish inverter and solar setup and looking to optimize via software.

Does anyone know if its possible to set an automation in Home Assistant via Solar Assistant for instance:

  • When PV input drops below 50w, within 2 hours of load shedding, to charge battery via utility only?

Guess the main thing here is does SA allow these sorts of changes via HA?

Many thanks

Yes it is possible. A number of settings need to be correct in both Solar and Home Assistant to get it working but once that's done it works 100%

Home-Assistant setup

MQTT integration

Work through these resources and see how far you get

What inverter is it?

If it is an Axpert/Voltronic I think you can just connect home assistant to it directly.

I got this far! Then it all started to look upside down.

Think of it like a Pen-pal mail system

You use the Sub command to subscribe to messages

You use the Pub command to send messages

The format is specific to the inverter, you can practice sending the commands via Pub to solar-assistant and see it apply to the inverter. Then it's a case of having HA send the command when the relevant conditions are met
