July 30, 20232 yr Hi guys, need some help regarding my new setup: Mecer SOL-I-AX-5M4 Mecer M3000 ESS Currently only using Eskom power, no panels installed yet. Initially it gave a 08 error and I did some searching on the forum and changed to below settings: 1: USB 2: 40A 5: USE 11: 30A 12: 48V 13: 51V 16: LBD 26: 53.5V 27: 52.5V 29: 47V So now the inverter stopped giving 08 error but I noticed that the battery is not charging, status shows charging 0A on home screen. If i restart the inverter it will show briefly that its charging @ 30A but goes down to 0A and stops charging. Any idea what could be the issue? The M3000 came with a few different types of com-inverter cables: Type 1: GDW/SOLIS/GROWATT/DEYE/RENAC/SMA/SUNNYK/DELLOS/SAJ Type 2: AXPERT-KING Type 3: LUX Type 4: VICTRON Type 5: GROWATT Which cable should I be using? Should it be connected as: Battery -> IN Port (CAN) Inverter > BMS Port Lastly im using this as a singular setup, the DIP switch on the M3000 1-4 currently only 3 is on, is this correct? Thank you.

The cable may or may not have a right way to connect, e.g. it might be important for one particular end to connect to the battery. If so, it should be marked as such.

From the manual it says you need only dip 2 on for the axpert. Most likely that is going to tell the battery to use RS485 comms to the inverter. On the inverter you are most likely going to need to change setting 5 to PYL or LIB or LIC to get it to speak the correct protocol and use RS485.
August 1, 20232 yr Author ok so everything is up and running, the issue i had is that I needed to set 5 ->PYL instead of using USER defined and indeed dipswitch 2 set to ON. After connecting the com cable from IN port to BMS port the system has now been running for over 24 hours. Thanks for the replies.

Just remember when running only 1 of those batteries you will need to manage your loads manually as you can only set the max charge amps, not max discharge amps, so limit your loads to a max of 2.4kW or you will trigger the battery BMS to go into protection.
