August 6, 20232 yr Hi all. I have a sunsynk 5kw inverter. How do I limit the feed from battery for non essentials like Geyser? During the day the inverter will use 50% solar and 50% from grid. But at night it uses 100% battery at 4200W, until the battery reaches the the set SOC level. Is there a setting to limit the battery to never feed, for example, at more than 2000W? I can't imagine that it is good for the battery to supply power at 4200W or more

It provides a couple of options in controlling the connected devices. It will require you to connect the geyser to this port. This wil give you the control you need. I can't imagine that it is good for the battery to supply power at 4200W or more I had the same issue and solved it by setting the “Power” values on the System Mode - System1 screen to the maximum watt value I wanted for those times of day. Now during those times, non-essentials (like the geyser) only draw up to that value as a maximum, easing the strain on the battery. Just note that during daytime this will limit solar as well since it acts as a grid-present inverter maximum which combines both battery and solar; so I use it only at night. EDIT: ZaydS mentions below that this doesn't impact PV at all - I've tested and he's right! - so it's safe to set throughout the whole day. I’m also pretty sure that this could be done on the Battery Type screen by reducing “Discharge Amps”; but my understanding is that would affect grid-down (i.e. load shedding) as well which I didn’t want in my case. I stand corrected: I've tested this all day and you're 100% spot-on, the Power Limit is not an Inverter Limit but rather just a Battery Limit - which is even more perfect for OP's purposes. Yes exactly: I was referring to the “Discharge Amps” setting on the "Battery Type" screen which applies across the board (Grid Up + Grid Down) unlike Sytem Mode-System1 which is Grid-Up only if I'm not mistaken; 4 hours ago, JohanFourie said: Awesome. Sure my BAttery will also be grateful Yeah it's perfect for your scenario; and as @ZaydS mentions, there's no harm in having it specified throughout the day since it doesn't impact PV/solar production.

When LS then it has no affect but the % SOC will be followed as per the timer settings.
August 8, 20232 yr Ah ok, then I misunderstood. I was looking for a setting to set battery discharge lower (say 100A or 5kw), but when there's no grid/solar then up to the max (say 150A or 7.5kw) is fine. At the moment I have the max discharge set to 150A but when there's grid then I would prefer it just discharge 100A and fetch the rest from grid. Not a big deal as this hardly happens and doesn't last long but just feels healthier for the battery.

We all have to learn these options as things can just get worse and own management will be very important. Part of my essential management is I tie my backup use based on LS. If after 22h at night only my electric blanket uses battery power and only for the time slot that we have LS. Other hours it runs on the grid via a grid monitor.
