August 8, 20232 yr Hello guys. I have a 16 Kw Deye inveeter installed. The installer also installed a 40A breaker between the inverter and AC explaining that they do it to protect the inverter from overload. I feel it limits the capacity of the inverter as it will break as soon as I hit 9600W which beats the purpose of having the 16Kw inverter. Will it be safe to replace the breaker with a 60A breaker instead?
August 8, 20232 yr Hi MotVisagie. You are correct.40A breaker will limit your system. Provided the correct cable is used you should be able to go with the standard 63A breaker. I,m no electrician so please verify this.

I can't uderstand why the installer would use 40 amp for 16kw inverter the breaker size is not to protect the inverter from overcurrent it protects the wire, the inverter has overcurrent protection build in.
