Normally 10A would be OK for a 1.1kw load (230V * 10 = ~2.3kw ) but I guess it's not a purely resistive load so your idea might be a safer bet, maybe the electrician can advise...
I'm using one of these for my pool pump (as well as another 2 for both of my geysers) and it works very well. Build quality is a bit hit-or-miss (of my three, one started rebooting when turning on recently, after being 1.5 years old, and needed to be replaced) but since they're part of the Tuya/SmartLife ecosystem you can do some really complex automation with very little effort, in addition to basic timers. The app makes creating these a straight-forward drag-and-drop affair; and the physical button on the unit means the pool service can turn it on themselves without the app if they need to.
For example when the weather is really cold we have an automation to turn off the pool filter at mid-day to save energy; and the same when it rains (because there's no solar heating nor swimming happening when it's cold/rainy!). Likewise in winter when the temperature dips low enough, our one geyser's CBI turns on for an extra hour at night to compensate for the weather.
The disadvantage is that these automations are cloud-based and won't run if your internet/wifi goes down. Basic timers don't need continuous connectivity, but automations do.

Very interesting discussion here & we have had this discussion before. On the one hand Pylontech sits in China & sends these batteries globally. They then rely upon the main supplier to carry out any RMAs or repairs or investigations. They cover themselves with the BMS able to record logs of the operation of the battery & what it has been exposed to.
The problem is that there are massive variations of quality in installers/ Owner installers & inverters. Some inverters support the Comms & others don't. If the inverter doesn't support the Comms then you rely on knowing what to do to setup the settings properly on the inverter. If there is Comms there is a Hit & miss chance whether the installer gets the Comms established & then also covers himself to get the user settings also setup just in case the Comms fails.
In all these cases Pylontech has written the fine print very well & they request the Logs & if the battery tells a story that shows any of the above not followed, they refute your warranty.
I have experience of a full bank of 20kWh of Pylontechs that have been warranty covered before the Logs showed that we were on point. The main BMU had a major fault & could not be repaired. They repaid in full after an investigation that lasted 3 weeks of back & forth checking logs & investigation of a repair. In the end they validated the warranty & a full refund was provided.
We can argue over the quality of their BMS or we can start to realise that you need this installed by someone who knows what they are doing so that you are protected by the warranty. What I have seen in this business is that so many people get into this game & say it's so easy anyone can do this....
The end results usually dont turn out good. This is not cheap equipment, do your research & protect your investment.
Massive take away of this thread & others like this on PYLONTECH:
Pylontech have a very specific way they want you to install their battery. They also have a strict policy of Comms setup or manual settings setup. If you violate these, you on your own & you can't then go back & make comments on what the BMS must & must not do. Their design is not hidden nor is their policy. If you buy a Pylontech follow the rules of use. Otherwise you will end up out of warranty & then guys like @BritishRacingGreen or myself might be able to process a repair outside of warranty with a JBD BMS replacement.

Piper reacted to Sc00bs in Maximum PV on Deye Inverter 5 kW
That is not correct @Scorp007 it is very common to "over watt" the panels, especially as panels are getting so cheap, as long as the voltage is below the max, the MPPT controls how much power it accepts from the panels and will not accept more than it wants.
I had 12.7kw on my 8kw without any issue and all Ok's by Sunsynk.
The MPPT's are both controlled and will both be throttled if there is no where for the inverter to send the power.
Max DC power on the 5kw is 6500W, so that is the maximum amount of DC power that the inverter will accept from the panels assuming that it has somewhere to send the power.
Main reason for over-watting the panels is to still get production on low solar radiation days.
Good video from Keith at Sunsynk on the topic

You are correct, you can never have enough panels. As long as you do not exceed the voltage limit of your MPPT, you can have as much panels as you want and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. The inverter will only draw the current which is within its limit, from the panels and clip off the rest, so you can safely ignore the max power of the solar array. For example, if you have 5kw inverter, MPPT operating Voltages range 120v to 400v, and max current 13A.  If you keep your string voltage below 400v, you can have 20 x 415w JA solar PV panels installed in 10s2p giving you operating voltage of 367v and max potential current of 22A but your inverter will only take 13A. Your potential/theoretical available power is 8300w and the only thing you will burn is your pockets.
Will I do this, NO! it will be a total waste. will it work, 100% sure it will work

Whilst we were waiting for the installer to arrive, I asked the City's engineer about the stories going around about arbitrary disconnections. He said this is not City Power policy. He said that the most common means of finding out about a PV system is that the meter is misbehaving (according to the householder) or that they go out to check why your meter readings have dropped off. They may advise you on the process to register your system, to get your installer to check the installation, or they may suggest that you switch to the reseller's tariff, but there should be no disconnections just for having PV.

Just reread your 1st post re #4
Try disconnecting your ht lead out and return at the fence and then connect them together and the see if your unit then shows good status.
If not then it may be your unit at fault.

Fit one of these or similar with a few seconds longer time setting on each fridge or not more than 2 fridges per timer. Say 30sec for the 1st one. Then 60sec for the next and 90 sec for the next etc. Your batteries will also love you for doing this.
Your fridges go into a lock rotor situation and each draws up to 10 times their normal power. This is too high for the inverter to supply hence the overload.
These will give overall voltage protection for low or high voltage.

    Hi
Flat panels should give you some extra power during the day, mainly mid-day. Something to concider is that any moisture will just sit on the panels, most of my panels are mounted on a carport with about 5 deg slope and I always get a dust build up on the bottom edge of my panels wich needs to be washed of regularly. From my personel experience I would suggest to rather slope your pannels.
I went as far as getting a few of these drainage clips to try and fix the problem. It works, but only so-so.

There are no issues adding a new battery. The new battery must be the master battery as described in the Pylontech manual along with how to add it.

I run a pack of 3 x u3000 Pylontechs  for 4years 6 months. The charging is set at 52.5v..The cells is still well balenced and the SOH is at 94%. Even at 52.5v the Axpert still overshoot tot 53.4 v. There is no benefit to charge at a higher voltage just the danger of exceeding The Pylontechs max charging  voltage.

Piper reacted to Lee2 in Inferior products or dismal warranties in SA
I was watching a random solar documentary on the US and they were installing products with 25 year warrantees.
Most of our products sold here don't come with anything near, most inverters only offer a 5 year warranty with a handful offering 10 and many stories on forums suggesting they don't honour them and blame the user/installer/location/weather etc
So are we being sold inferior products here or are we just not getting good enough warranties. If you are paying all this money for a system including now engineering signoffs you would expect the system to be warranteed for a long time else you are wasting your money, imagine every five years having to repeat these large payouts, this scenario is very possible given solar is a very recent mass phenomena in SA and are just a handful of years old, and most of the products on the market are new/untested and sadly many already have a whiff of won't be honouring any warrantees.
Maybe I am just a being stingy skeptic but I don't think a five year warrantee is good enough for anything requiring professional sign offs that i have to pay for because my government can't supply me with electricity

Piper reacted to Cyril in Hubble AM-2 Cell failures
About 18 months ago I installed 2 Hubble AM-2 batteries coupled to an 8Kw Deye inverter with 6 Kw panels on the roof with a COC for those that might bring this up. Batteries were never drained below 20% capacity. A couple of months after the installation when everything was working well, I recommended these batteries to my brother who bought five units. A work colleague also bought five units. I can report the following. After 18 months both my batteries have failed with a defective cell. For my brother 4 out of his 5 batteries have failed. For my work colleague 3 out of his 5 batteries have failed. It all starts with a call out fee of R500 for the electrician, who did the installation, to confirm the drop in capacity from 110 ah to ~50 ah. Then you have to pay R500 (which is way overpriced) for the RS232 cable so that the Hubble technicians can log onto your laptop to do a firmware update that will convert the battery from a 5.5kwh to a 5 kwh battery. Once the firmware does not correct the problem you have to have the battery removed and then spend R1000 on diesel to take the battery to Hubble in Joburg, who will then subsequently send it away to Cape Town because there is no welder in Joburg. If you only have two batteries, you will have to do this twice as SWAMBO has now become used to having electricity during loadshedding and two to three weeks without a backup system is not an option. I am not even going to get into the huge electricity bills for the two months... Not to go on a bashing spree I really think that 9 out of 12 batteries failing seems to be excessive?? Although, the support has been all but willing to assist 100% of the costs are for my pocket. It sort of feels like when there is a recall for your car because the brakes were manufactured with a defect, but they require you to carry the cost having them fixed.
