February 27, 20242 yr I have a 8kw Sunsynk inverter but sometimes when switching from grid to battery the inverter trips and alarms over current. My loads is a bunch of fridges that runs at about 4-5kw. How can I automate the startup process of 1 fridge at a time to eliminate this error?

In order to assist have you perhaps checked during the transition that the fridges actually have no power for a brief period and then only switch on again. Looking at the inside light is the easiest to know if this happens.

I thought that was normal and that the inverter changeover was just a ms to slow.

Fit one of these or similar with a few seconds longer time setting on each fridge or not more than 2 fridges per timer. Say 30sec for the 1st one. Then 60sec for the next and 90 sec for the next etc. Your batteries will also love you for doing this. Your fridges go into a lock rotor situation and each draws up to 10 times their normal power. This is too high for the inverter to supply hence the overload. These will give overall voltage protection for low or high voltage. https://electromannsa.co.za/shop-the-latest-affordable-gadgets-online/easton-ac220-40amp-din-rail-over-voltage-current-and-under-voltage-protector-relay/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiArfauBhApEiwAeoB7qJ1FQsRw0ychWCu9USbBqUNiEMTUhp9oQqklPOj2qktjPYaUH12h_BoCACUQAvD_BwE Edited February 28, 20242 yr by Scorp007

Thanks. I will give it a try
February 28, 20242 yr Nb please be careful of starting a refrigiration compressor when it is still under pressure. If a compressor was running and is switched off and on in a short time, it tries to start against back pressure and the compressor can be damaged. To stagger the restart I'll suggest you get a couple of different Refrigiration Surge protector plugs. They have a restary time delay of between 2 to 5min . I know the Clearline have a 5 min, my Ellies one has 2 minutes and the Safy Volt I supplied to a friend was 3 minutes. Your fridge will love you for using this device. LoL If you can go to a supplier and ask them to test different models to see what delay they have because sometimes different units of the same supplier have n little different time delays. First test 1 and see if it is fast enough to catch your power dip or surge.
