August 9, 20233 yr The client purchased the panel 3 years back as new we did not do the initial install but was contacted to do the repair. To me this type of junction box tech is pre-2010 the panels can't be only 3 years old and erode like this in the Gauteng Centurion area. My first installation was in 2012 with Canadian Solar panels it was 255w panels even then the panels had a single small sealed connection on the leads down the middle on the long edge of the panel. Your thoughts, please?
August 9, 20233 yr Looking at the cable crimp on the bottom bar, I would say that the damage is not corrosion due to weather but heat damage due to a poor ( high resistance) crimp.
August 9, 20233 yr The client can purchase them today and you will still have that corrosion if the panels were stored in a container somewhere in the harbour for the last 10 years or so. It all depends on how long they were in storage and where. It looks like the damage is not bad, the panel can be fixed. As for the rust, you can try and clean/remove it but I wouldn't worry about if. Just my opinion

I agree with the heat. The dark colour says it all. Corrosion would have affected all the conductors inside the box.
