Decentralized PV Systems

Featured Replies

I am entering new territory going on 5day course at Scneider Electric Midrand for system design and installation of Decentralized PV Systems. I had some enquiries from clients for 33kva and 50kva systems. Just wanted to know if any installers @Steve87 @Leshen or any other installers have installed the Schneider CL33 Inverter.

Hi @TaliaBunfortunately not. I have heard good noise from this machine but never had the opportunity.

Thanks Steve will see soon enough in training how it goes together😛

The Concept is not a new one though. Large Commercial PV parks usually make use of this system without even realizing it. The Pros are all in the installers favour. Much easier to install a few lighter inverters that just a massive heavy machine that will require massive equipment to move & fix it into place. The main focus of such a design is that you need the suitable Switch gear to pair the AC side of these machines & so usually instead of a large maybe AC Protection box with a  few breakers now you end up with a much larger AC Box with more switch gear that will AC couple all of these machines together.

But the provisions are all in favour because if one was given a system design to carry out on a 1MW Solar park & one decided to use 4 x 250kW Grid tie inverters that would seem like a good plan. However, all the Schneider product is doing is breaking this 1MW scale into lots of micro chuncks. Its Pros & Cons. Depends a lot on the Clients but given the complexity of design. Sometimes breaking something into too many moving parts is not ideal. It adds to the complexity.

Just my 2c worth. This products success will ultimately depend on the scale of the project.
