Advice on adding a battery

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Hope everyone is well.

I have the following system:

2 x 5kw Luxpower Inverters

2 x 5.12kw Shoto batteries

16 x 545w panels

Please see attached pics as I am not sure if it will be possible to add another battery to the system?

I have not done the installation, just a customer but have had two opinions where one states I can add 1 and another said I need to add 1 to each battery.

Any help will be appreciated.

Are you asking if it’s physically possible to fit another battery in that space?
In general you can parallel a fair number of batteries, you have to double check the battery manual on how they should be wired and BMS connected and dip switches etc.

Good day.

Yes correct, so currectly I would like to know if its possible for me to add 1 battery.

But some one advised me that it is not possible and due to the set up (as per pic), I would need to add two batteries. (One to each one currently installed).

Any help will be appreciated.

When it comes to electrically connecting new with old, make sure new and old have as close as possible the same SOC. Otherwise you will get momentarily a very high current until the SOC are equalized.
