Hallo everyone, I am brand new to all of this and have been reading and researching for the last month only to become more confused every day.  I am enjoying it though 🙂 and this forum is fantastic!

I can help myself with the basics, but I am stuck on the choice of inverter.   I need a +-5 Kw.  I guess the short version is, Is it worth it to buy for example a Goodwe at 3 x the price of an Axpert?

I would like to be able to optimise between and share power sources.  I my terms,  Use PV first, then add battery then add Eskom if necesarry. From what I can figure out so far the Axpert can't do this but the Goodwe can ?  Please help.

In short, yes this is correct.

It is, not only in build quality, but if you look at the new regulations and the problem some areas have with axperts, its makes the Goodwe more worth your while.

Thank You for the info.  Is the InfiniSolar Super an option that I can consider?  ie can this unit draw from PV, Batt and Eskom simultaneously like the Goodwe?

Is there someone on the forum that would be prepared to talk to me telephonically for some advice.  I don't want to speak to suppliers as they mostly punt what they have.

InfiniSolar Super

Someone on this forum had one and wasn't impressed. There were some failures (maybe on earlier models?) and it is also unclear if it is approved for grid connection. Goodwe is a much better option.

I have 2, have to say no.... Any other model, just not the super......

I am specifically referring to the 4kw. I didnt hear anything bad about the 5kw... but will still be cautious.

Good Morning Jaco. Can you please explain your problem with the 4Kw Super ?

About 2 months after installation the first unit blew the DC board. Ran with one inverter for almost 10 months. Had the inverter fixed and about 2 months after replacing the faulty one, the other one blew the DC and main board. Still out for repairs. Another forum member had 3 failures in 10 months, another Bought 6 of these units and even before commissioning was completed, he was left with only three, another member had 2 failures in basically six months. All were DC board related. Reports from some suppliers are that they ran out of replacement boards for these units, and that Voltronic has stopped producing these models because of the failure rate and that no new units are expected to enter SA.
