Good day All,

I have been trawling through the forum and have found some great info but am looking for what I fear may be something unobtainable.

I have an Axpert King 5kW (Firmware 71.9) and I would like the system to run in SBU during the day to maximise PV generation and then at night in SUB or USB mode as I do not have sufficient storage capacity to get through an entire night.

Also given that the inverter has some niggle in that when you transition between "Back to Batt and Back to Grid" voltages it charges the battery at a constant 2A which then causes the battery to cycle and/or be at float voltage when the sun comes up.

Is there any workaround for this? I.e. new firmware or some or other settings to get it to max out on PV during the day while at night it runs from grid?

What I use is sbu .

I use about 20% lithium into the evening  this leaving 65% for power failures or SA problem load shedding and cut off is set at 15%.

I do not charge batterys from grid power only solar pv  as I have enough battery capacity to get me through the night 

This method I'm saving max grid power but leaving enough battery power for power failures but not stressing my lithium daily. 

On rainy days I set sub so what ever solar can't supply grid will give with out draining my lithium .

I have found for my setup this works best

There were some PV related fixes around 71.92 or 71.94. So it would be worth updating to 72.00.

Thanks for the feedback. We were away for holidays so only getting a chance to catch up now. Will have a gander at the firmware this weekend and do the upload. For fear of being an askhole I will first go read up on tge loading of the firmware etc. as I am sure it is detailed in your link.

Any hiccups I will get back to you guys.

Ah ok so now the 20 questions.

From what I have read it seems that the DSP is separate form the Detachable Display Firmware. I.e. the Inverter CPU will take the DSP.hex (72.0) and the detachable display will take the 02.83 must be loaded via the Serial Reflash if my understanding is correct.

I do not have the USB-Serial but I am an eager beaver and would really like to get this firmware on the the Inverter.

Is there a requirement to update the Display so it "works" with the DSP.hex (72.0) or can you manage the settings via Watchpower App via the Bluetooth connection? The last thing I want to happen is me uploading the firmware and then sitting with a display that can't provide input to the CPU. Although I prefer the Watchpower App as I don't have to go through 20 button presses for simple actions.

Then I have also noted that the above link if 72.0 (OCT 2022 - https://powerforum.co.za/files/file/114-axpert-king-5kw-main-cpi-7200-reflashzip/) but there is also a 72.0a and 02.83a which is much more recent (SEP 2023 - https://forums.aeva.asn.au/viewtopic.php?p=97712#p97712) or is this just a BETA only although it indicates that its patched due to the fact that Youda bought you guys a King to play with.

Or are the only changes the DC and LC that is added on with 72.0a?

I can't immediately think of any interactions between display firmware and DSP, although as I type this I'm not so sure. It would be best to update the display firmware. The display firmware does a lot more than just drive the display, and using Watchpower exercises a lot of the code in the display firmware.

Those are Weber and my fully patched firmware for the Axpert King 1, kindly enabled by a donation from Youda. There are a lot of improvements for LFP batteries (assuming that you use an LFP battery and run the LFP flavour of the patched firmware). A fair bit of the changes are to improve use of the front panel LC Display, but it seems that most users these days use monitoring software. KettleKomp™ is a very useful feature, though it needs some setting up.

So you should definitely consider going to 72.00a and 02.83a; shame on me for not mentioning that. Sigh.

Thanks so much for getting back to me!

Will then need to get a RS242 to USB so I can do both in the same breath.

It might be the better option in any event because then I can use the flash tools to ensure that proper Serial Coms are established and I can get the stuff talking etc.

Will need to buy you a coffee when the AUD/ZAR exchange rate is favorable again... LOL!
