Hi everyone. 

A short while back, after a typical JHB afternoon thunderstorm, 3 of my 4 Narada batteries stopped reporting SOC to solar assistant (and one of my two Axperts died as well).

After some digging I found the supposedly official Narada BMS software and checked each battery to confirm what was going on. I get a "no communication" message on each of the three suspected broken units. The 4th reports data as per solar assistant. So I assume the BMS got fried in the storm? Is such a thing repairable and if so, by whom?

Start asking the guys that repair inverters if they do it or if they can recommend someone. 

Same thing happened to my Narada's a few years ago. 3 of them knocked out by a lightning strike.

I replaced the bms with Ant and JBD. Of the two, the JBD is definitely the better one.

All the batteries are still running with no problems.

I had a quick look at what Ant and JBD are. Looks quite complicated from an installation/setup point of view?

Then there js also the JK. Look at the Off grid garage videos on them on YouTube. Also a number of members here are using them. Me included.

Any chance you have a picture of your setup?

No but just Google. Mine is inside a battery box with my 2 banks. Inverter is on top and have to disconnect battery and PV to get access. 

There are some variations like some have a switch to switch on and others via the APP only. Others take 8-20 cells and installed one with up to 24 cells.
