How do I increase battery capacity

Featured Replies

Hi all. Just starting out and I think Im getting the hang of things. I have a 12kW 3 phase sunsynk inverter, 4 5.12kW batteries and 38 435W panels.

everything seems to be working fine. At night, Ive been trying to see how much I can avoid eskom, and the batteries see me through. I noticed, however, that if the load increases by switching on a kettle, the total W used from the battery peaks out at around 4.83kW, and the balance gets pulled from the grid. Is there a way to only pull from the battery during these momentary peaks?

@JacoG I have 4 Elithium 51.2V 5.12kW batteries. I’ve attached a picture of the config. ThanksIMG_5638.thumb.png.151f0f1654ef7aaa79a73ad180f252dd.png

I had an issue where my Max discharge was too low so my inverter restarted when eskom was not available, but your's looks ok not sure what the max discharge is for your batteries.

Reviving this. I still have the issue where my max charge and discharge peaks just under 5kW. I noticed that my liBMS settings had current limits. Is there a way to change these?IMG_6005.jpeg.6138512fcb3b2e380081dbd227d139c4.jpeg

That info is pulled from the Battery BMS. It looks like the BMS is not properly communicating that you have 4 batteries installed so is being limited as though you only have one. You'll need to double check the documentation for the communication links between the batteries and any settings needed for dip switches etc to getting them talking. Otherwise chat to the battery manufacturer or supplier.
