TaliaB
I was wondering in diffrent regions of SA those with monotoring software, what is the maximum time that Imp max value was observed from your SCC and for how long? I have seen on my own istallations during summer with clouds that Imp will spike to nameplate rating for 5~30 seconds. Is there anyone that has experienced longer periods. I am specifically interested in the maximum current in series strings and strings in parallel. If you could be so kind to state your Province, Solar panel manufacturer and Power rating and also SCC( or inverter manufacturer and specifications) and lastly load connected and battery Soc when observation was made. Many thanks.

Sidewinder
Here goes: (added at bit more info for context) Wattage Recorded: 9018W Imp: 16.1A & 13.5A Imp Ratio: 16.1/18.36 = 87.7% Date & Time: 30 July 2024 @ 10:53:44 Duration: 108s Max. This I read if your system got to 11680W or higher

Not bad going for this time of the year but seems Jozi was pushing the solar as of late but can't say the same for Western Cape this year's winter was a disaster in more than one way. Sidewinder
Thanks @TaliaB & @Scorp007, updated my stats with duration and Imp ratio (made sense to me) TaliaB
Scorp007
@TaliaB The best that I can provide is the following. Not having more detail. Imp=8.71A 285W Solis 4G grid tied on 28/7. Series string of 6. Peak current 7.1A midday. Not seen anything close to Imp this month. Will have to wait quite a bit longer for higher irradiation. TimCam
@TaliaB From December 2023 to show some clipping. KZN Midlands Canadian Solar 415W Imp = 10.56A Isc = 11.14A Vmp = 39.3V Voc = 47.8V MPPT2:- P2S6 (12 panels) = 4980W, Voc 286.8V, Vmp 235.8V Total Facing 25 Deg NE ( N=0 Deg, E=90 Deg, S=180 Deg, W=270 Deg), Elevation tiled roof +- 22 Deg. SunSynk 8.8 kW +- 2021, never upgraded Firmware. Edited August 1 by TimCam

At 07h00 you are on Vmp max with very little current flowing whereas it starts to drops at around 07h30 when current starts to flow. Very good data thanks again. TimCam
Unfortunately the old SunSynk 8.8 kW could only process between 18 - 20A per MPPT, mine is one of those, so no 26A for me, therefor the clipping at 19.8A. TaliaB

Ah ok not the end of the world you only loosing 5% at peak production. For future expansion you can always up the voltage by adding panels in series to each string.
