need help parallel inverter

Featured Replies

Hello, we have 6 inverters DEYE 50KW hybrid installed in 2 groups, but the distance between the 4th and 5th inverter is about 90m. it turns out that they communicate via CAN and not via RS485 and the signal does not reach the inverter at all and the machines cannot work properly in parallel (each inverter has a battery pack)

Thanks

CAN has some distance limits based on transmission speed:

Speed in bit/s  - Maximum Cable Length
- 1 Mbit/s - 20 m (65 ft)
- 800 kbit/s - 40 m (131 ft)
- 500 kbit/s - 100 m (328 ft)
- 250 kbit/s - 250 m (820 ft)
- 125 kbit/s - 500 m (1640 ft)
- 50 kbit/s - 1000 m (3280 ft)
- 20 kbit/s - 2500 m (8202 ft)
- 10 kbit/s - 5000 m (16404 ft)

This assumes ideal conditions - shielded cable with limited external interference. I'm not sure what speed DEYE use but industry standard has been 250 kbit/s for a while - so you should be able to achieve 250m.

I would look at the cable you're using for the CAN comms and the path it takes. Investing in a shielded twisted cable and trying to keep it separated from high current AC wires will go a long way to increasing the distance you can cover.

Apart from the 4th and 5th being 90m apart, how far away are the other inverters that are connected in parallel? Is it just two connected in parallel or more than that.

With canbus the total distance from end to end matters, not just between two nodes.

If you don't come right with the shielded cable then you can try contacting these guys, they do canbus repeaters and can advise on the best way to solve your issue.

so the baud rate is 9600, from Deye answer parellel distance max 5m, we have 6 inverters from 1 to 4 no problem but fron 4 to 5,6 90m distance .....

Hi, did you manage to connect them somehow? i have the same issue now, however my distance is 70m

Have similar issue. In manual for some deye models found the pinout of parallel port… and it has:

Pin 1,2 / 7,8 - sync, gnd (two pairs duplicate)

Pin 3,6 / 4,5 - CAN H,L (two pairs duplicate).

Tested it with oscilloscope - Deye realy has two duplicated CAN pairs with 50kbaud and two duplicated pairs (sync/gnd) of signal with 2Vpp and approximately 20kHz with some smaller peaks and higher frequency and softer slopes more characteristic for analogue signal.

So it looks like not only CAN works there but also some “physical” synchronization.

I also emailed with Deye support and they suggested using GCAN 208-1 CAN-optical converters. We tried - it didn’t work. Looks like Deye support also didn’t know they have extra synchronization line in their parallel system (hysterical laugh).

Another reason for the theory above is that we sniffed the can signal and packets travel both ways, but invertors go to F29 error. Done small experiment and connected only CAN pairs on short distance without synch pairs - same result.

Gonna try using active video balun’s (amplifier for balanced line).

Hello guys I am new on the group. I have a similar problem, but mine i only need 8m communication cable to parallel 50 kW deye inverter number 2 to 3 and 4. Distance from inverter 1 to 2 is 1m and 2 to 3 is 8m and 3 to 4 is 8m. Where can I get this 8m cable in KZN area.
