October 14, 20241 yr Hi guys. Just a question maybe someone have seen something similar. One of my batteries is getting very hot when it has fully charged. While charging all of them are about the same but as soon has they hit 100% the one will get quite hot. The minimum and maximum temp on the cells seems fine so I assume this is the temp sensor inside the enclosure. After about an hour it will drop back to the same temp as the rest. Setup is Sunsunk 8Kw inverter with 5 Pylontech batt running solar assistant. Battery comms via CAN. Can it maybe be the balancer that is creating this heat? October 14, 20241 yr The voltage looks too high? 53.5v ? Our UP5000's with axpert type inverter manually set to a max voltage 53.2v, have also seen some comments that it's probably safer to even reduce this slightly to 52.8 so when / if inverters overshoot the voltage it may not have such a negative effect, depending on how fast your inverter reacts to sudden drop off in load once the batteries are full / almost full +/- 97%? The batteries cannot communicate with our axpert inverter, so we had to set them battery type to user defined used the document below : https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://portal.segensolar.co.za/reseller/docs/Voltronic%20Inverter%20Setup%20SOP.PDF Even with the lower voltage set on the inverter, the batteries will just charge, just a bit slower if they can still absorb power once almost full, even with the slightly lower voltage.

October 14, 20241 yr 53 degrees is pretty hot , how long does the temp stay there ? does it go up quick at the end of charging and then back down pretty quick after fully charged ? I have only seen this behavior on the new chip pylons and that battery serial on your picture is old chip if i am correct which would make this even more suspect. Could also be faulty temp sensor or the BMS starting to fail ,hard to know , try batteryview and check what it does when you go from 95 to 100% SOC. I have seen my new chip battery peak at about 46c when balancing.
