March 9, 20251 yr Hi EveryoneI moved my Aqua Max 600W pool pump onto my inverter power. Now it runs for about 15mins then shuts off. Motor very hot. First, I thought it was the pump, so i got a new one. Same problem.I have 2 x 6kW Inverters in parallel with 6 x 5.12kW batteries and 16 x 550W panels. It should be more than enough power to run a 600W pump. It only started after I connected it to solar power.Any advise
March 9, 20251 yr If the pump runs fine on normal Eskom power but overheats on your inverter it's probably due to the non-sinusoidal shape or the PWM nature of the inverter power waveform. Fast voltage rise times play havoc with the efficiency of motors, especially single phase motors with capacitors. With small single phase motors usually there's usually no way to tell how they'll perform on an inverter supply without simply trying them and finding out the hard way.
March 10, 20251 yr @Lourens1975 ,It would be great to know what model of 6kW Inverters you have, in case someone else runs into the same problem.
