July 20, 20251 yr I have just moved to a house and am in the process of finding out which switch activates what.There is a separate toilet and bathroom with a double wall switch for the lights. The one switch turns on both lights, the other does nothing.I opened the switch to see if the non active switch was wired, suspecting that at some time perhaps an extractor fan may have been connected to it.It had a 2.5mm wire attached as opposed to the 1.5mm on the active switch, judging by noticable diameter difference with all the other wiring.I measured the voltage from earth (metal of 2x4 wall box) to the open side of the switch and registered 42V , I dropped the breaker for the circuit at the DB and then measured 70V between earth and the open side of the switch.The house is single phase and has a Victron Multiplus-11 GX 5Kva and a BSL Batt (5Kw?) running in UPS mode.Question: Do I have a problem? And if so any suggestions of what may be the issue?ThanksThunderdolt
July 20, 20251 yr 11 hours ago, Thunderdolt said:Do I have a problem?Most likely... It is difficult to know without a wiring diagram. If the installation (including inverter) was properly earthed, there should only be 0V or 230V a.c. present in your house.
July 21, 20251 yr A Victron has a built in automatic neutral to earth relay which activates in the ups mode, so you should have any stray voltage

Alternatively measure from the switch points to a know good earth like in the DB
