Tariq got a reaction from James 1 in Is Sunsynk still an option?@James1 , agree with you there, I am also an installer and run my own house on a 5 kW, wife has learnt how to keep grid to essentially zero ( trickle feed ) and except for geyser and oven on non essential, whole house is on essential, hardly an ac overload trip, but, yes, for clients, who don't to to bother managing loads, i try to steer them away from the 5 kW, if at all possible. My markup and labor is the same for a 5kw or 8 kw, so only difference is price of the 2

Tariq got a reaction from BarendD in Battreries@BarendD, are you located in Cape Town, if so, you don't have to do a line drawing, it is part of the online application, if not, you can use a drawing provided by CoCT.
I have always pointed the arrow on the CT towards the inverter in my installations and reversed the wires at the inverter if the CT is showing negative.

Tariq got a reaction from Nicholas Strachan in Aircon on 5 kw inverter . invert or one speed ACI run an 18000 BTU inverter aircon on a 5 kW Sunsynk, with no issues at all. with 15 kWh's of battery charged by solar panels, run it practically all night.

Tariq got a reaction from Stefan Cornelissen in PV solar cable size6 is commonly found out there, but 4 mm2 is fine also

Tariq got a reaction from Virwat in Sunsynk 5kw x 2 batteries issueIf the batteries are not allowed to drop to the 30%, they seem to develop a resistance to charging up to 99/100%, try discharging the batteries to around 30% a few times, it should help.

Tariq reacted to Gerrie in Splitting DB into Essential and Non-Essential sections to allow for reduced size inverter. The inverters have been powered up and a few load tests done. The three phase seem to work well. The setting up of master, slave, dip switches, CT coils and phase rotation can play games with you but once right it seem to work pretty well. I have no solar pv connected yet, will start conecting the strings soon, just waiting for some roof work to be completed. I'm excited to see the pv side when connected.

Tariq got a reaction from Antonio de Sa in BSL battery discharge not aligned to consumption on Sunsynk InverterI have installed a 5 kWh battery on a 12 kW 3 phase inverter and have no problems ( loads are light, within battery specs ), so agree with @Scorp007

Tariq got a reaction from WannabeSolarSparky in Sunsynk - CT Clamp@Scubadude, i have my geysers, washing machine, tumble dryer, dish washer, pool pump on non essentials ( between ct clamp and inverter ) and all works well, my total load so far this month is about 400 kWh and bought from grid is 20 kWh, this is with the Limit To Load NOT ticked, that is 95% self consumption.
Think we should leave it as the difference between Deye and Sunsynk and I don't profess to know anything about Deye

Tariq got a reaction from zsde in Deye 5kw System@Sc00bs, I also only have 4.8 kWh of batteries and agree that it would take a very long time to recoup the cost of another 4.8 kWh battery, so spent money on some more panels and now running aircons during the day with no worries

Tariq got a reaction from Yellow Measure in "Floating Neutral"Had the same problem at a clients house, faint glow from the LED lights during load shedding, found out that the neutral-earth relay wasn't working, voltage between neutral-earth was 111 volts, sorted out the relay issue and all was good.

Tariq got a reaction from Baksteen in New to Solar - Advice needed@MongooseMan is correct, I had applied at the beginning of May and it literally took under 10 days for the approval to install, and the same for the commissioning letter, just read thru to the application process and I or @MongooseMan will be able to help you, if you are going thru an installer, then he can fill out most of the form, if DIY ( like myself ), then I can help you thru the application process

Tariq got a reaction from Sipproxy in Advice on wiring Sunsynk 5kWBased on how I did my Sunsynk:-
1) You don’t need the first Changeover switch, as the grid connection is a T off the main grid wires going to the non-essential circuits and you have a double pole mcb to isolate the inverter, you do need the second changeover switch, to power the essential circuits, in case of a problem with the inverter
2) Don’t believe you need the 25 amp mcb’s before the spd’s
3) As the Sunsynk is capable of 35 amp pass through, better to use 35 amp mcb’ and 6 mm2 wire
4) Please correct me if I am wrong, don’t think you need spd’s on the load side.

Tariq got a reaction from Jabu in Most Efficient Electric Geyser Replacement2400 watts of pv power is not going to be enough, I have 4260 watts of solar panels, my geyser is 200 litre fitted with a 2 kW element ( heat it to 70 degrees once a day with pv ONLY ), it takes an average of 5 hours to heat the geyser to 70 degrees, as it is winter, i just barely get my batteries charged to 100 % ( use batteries during the night , to cut down on return on investment )

Tariq got a reaction from Energy-Jason in 10x 540w Panels in 1 string?@YellowTapemeasure, I got to about 422 volts this winter with nine panels, so another panel would have put it up to 470 volts, might never have crossed the danger line and blown the mppt, but as I said earlier, was not worth taking a chance for another 250 to 300 watts of pv

Tariq got a reaction from Gerrit123 in Sizing a string for SunSynk 5KW InverterMy 6X540 watt string faces NW and it will consistently produce 2.6 kWh plus

-
Tariq got a reaction from SolarNovice88 in Sunsynk aux load for geyserFirst I connected the geyser to AUX, in the morning when both conditions were met, soc and pv, the system would switch on, then if AUX switched off due to pv or soc dropping below the limits, so far so good, but then if the limits were re established, AUX will not switch on again for the day. Thinking the geyser not coming on for the second time on the same day was due to the thermostat, so I connected AUX to the pool pump and it would not worked as designed and could not get any clear answers from Keith Sunsynk.
