Higher volts or amp

better 300volts 16 amps

I would go for 300volt 16 amp. I always  aim to get as close as possible to 330 volt to ensure the highest conversion efficiency from Pv to ac. If most of the PV production will be used for daytime loads, it makes more  sense that way.

Yes, i also just saw that the inverter says max 450v and max amps 18, so changed it quickly before sunup.

You never now what double max amps will do to the unit

Would this mean that if the inverter is rated 18A max solar supply, that the excess amps are lost, meaning all those extra pannels are basically for show...?

what if most of the loads are for evening and there is a 5kw inverter with 30kwh li-ion backup?

Still same logic or maximise of current in?

Still same logic

Yes. All DC-DC converters are more efficient the closer they are to unity voltage ratio. It's boosting to at least 350 V, I can't remember the exact figure.

No, for snow 🙃. (And rain and clouds). On cloudy days, and early morning and late afternoons, you'll be using everything that is available.

Yes, the excess current capability beyond 18 A is wasted. It should not harm the solar charge controller, though it may have more overshoots which push the silicon closer to its limits.

well lifted all my pannels to a nice angle, and running at 340v 16amps, and far so good, getting around 300v as early as 7am now, and still above 300v till 5pm, so would say from 9 to 4 i am getting 330 to 340v, and running whole house and pool pump from solar only.
