Sonman
Dear Power Forum, Hope you will be able to assist us. We have a client near Pretoria with an old 60Amp 4Kw RCT inverter which they would like to monitor on their laptop. The problem is that they have an Apple laptop with NO CD Rom, only a stick, and it DOESN’T read the Watchpower disc which I have transferred onto a stick. Do you have software, on a stick if possible, for an Apple laptop, PLEASE? Hope to hear from you soon.
Arandoza
Have a look at ICC Software, it runs on a Raspberry Pi and is better than watch power. https://iccsoftware.co.za/
Sonman
Many thanks Arandoza, Sorry the inverter can't take a Pi, it has NO port for the Pi
Sonman
We tried ICC as well, still busy with them.
sammy
You can order ICC complete kit here: https://centurionsolar.co.za/shop/icc-pi-kit/ It includes everything you need to program your inverter, and Johan is an avid mac user as well, so he can guide you through the setup on your mac for it. I can recommend Centurion Solar's friendly service!
Coulomb
Alternatively, WatchPower is packaged for Windows, Linux, and IOS (MAC). The latest version should always be available here: https://www.mppsolar.com/manual/Watchpower (off-grid)/ Ignore WatchPower v1.13SP2, it seems to be Windows only. As of this post, V1.13 is the latest; go into that folder, and choose the file with MAC (for Macintosh) in the name. WatchPower is written in Java, so the different OS versions differ mainly in how they are packaged. I have no idea how to install an IOS program; presumably Apple people will know, or there may be clues inside the .zip file.
Arandoza
On 2019/07/22 at 3:23 PM, Sonman said: Many thanks Arandoza, Sorry the inverter can't take a Pi, it has NO port for the Pi My two RCT AXPERTS 5KVA (4KW) came with both the USB-b port (it looks like a usb printer cable - usb-a to usb-b connectors) and Serial port connectors underneath the unit. I run ICC on a Rpi with the Usb port option, one cannot use both ports simultaneously, unfortunately. So if you have the separate Axpert control panel which uses the serial (rj45) connector then you have to choose Rpi or serial remote control panel. (they Run serial over Cat5 -Rj45 to give more cable length / range to the control panel
