September 12, 20196 yr Hi Guyz, Grid voltage in my area fluctuate a lot between 247V and 195V, I've seen Grid tied system but running off grid,no feedback Is it possible to install some type of AVR (UPS or some type of device if any) between Main AC and Inverter AC input to regulate voltage better ?

An online ups should do that , problem you would need at least a 4kw unit and that will cost you more than a standard Chinese Inverter. If you have a low voltage problem, it would be better asking the local council to change the tap settings to try and up the voltage.

September 12, 20196 yr PSS is a great company, they use to be in Modderfontein. I had their online ups in mind, didn't know they were selling AVRs as well. Price is not bad at all (R2800) for the 5kva model. I see its old technology. Using a Variac with a servomotor to adjust the voltage and can rectify a 20% voltage variation. It's not using all the electronics needed to do a double conversion, so imo it's a safer option that the online UPS

It's not using all the electronics needed to do a double conversion Auto-transformer topology, which significantly reduces the size of the transformer, since the power it has to handle is only 20% max of the full amount 🙂

In South Africa, it will mean that he will be disconnected from the grid basically constantly, I guess that is why he is trying to stabilize the voltage rather than disconnecting it.
